Chapter 5

The door slammed shut with a deafening bang, as though it had sealed my fate in the very depths of hell.

I struggled to open the door and crawled out, leaving a trail of bright red blood snaking behind me–gruesome enough to make anyone’s heart stop.

It wasn’t until I made it downstairs that I finally reached my phone and called the hospital.

The next time I opened my eyes, I was in a hospital room filled with the sharp, sterile scent of disinfectant.

“Ms. Cullen, I’m afraid that we weren’t able to save the baby. Would you like to let us know how you’d prefer to handle the remains?” The nurse looked at me sympathetically.

Emotionlessly, I asked, “Could you call a delivery service for me?”

After a night of carefree indulgence, Jonah and the others returned home.

The moment they opened the door, they were met with a chilling sight–a trail of blood snaking from upstairs all the way into the living room.

“What happened here? Chelsea?” He ran upstairs like a madman, only to see an empty room with a puddle of bloodstain.

The doorbell rang at that moment. “Hello, is there a Mr. Sawyer here? There’s a package for you. Please sign here.”

Jonah froze briefly. He remembered he wasn’t awaiting any parcels.

He took over the large package and caught a waft of foul, iron smell. A sense of foreboding brewed within him, and he couldn’t help but tremble as he unboxed it.

The moment he did, everyone let out a sharp gasp. Lucy, on the other hand, screamed profusely out of sheer horror.

“This can’t be right.” Jonah was so stunned that he lost his grip on the box, causing the item inside to fall out and stain his shoes red.

Then, his eyes fell on the words written on the back of the box–red and large. “I hope you and Lucy like the gift.”

Panic instantly flickered in Jonah’s eyes. He quickly pulled out his phone and tried calling me, ,but the call wouldn’t go through. It was clear I had his number blocked.

“She knew… She knew everything,” he muttered, then looked up with reddened eyes as he grabbed Zachary’s collars. “What did you guys do to her last night?”

Met with his terrifying gaze, Zachary stuttered, “W–We did what you’d approved of! Shouldn’t you be asking Lucy about this? She said she’d added sedatives to temporarily numb her senses so she wouldn’t remember anything afterward.”

He pointed at Lucy with a trembling finger,

Lucy froze, then held onto Jonah with panic. “Joe, nobody feels worse than me to have lost our very own baby! I did drug her, but I didn’t assault her. It’s clear this bloodstain was left from last night!”

She shifted the blame back to Zachary, who cursed inwardly.

He turned to Jonah, deflecting. “I thought Lucy is the one you want. Now that the baby is gone, you can finally be with her! The boys and I can testify that Chelsea was truly a hard one to handle! Who knows how long it’ll take her to recover after giving birth?”

Before the words had even fully landed, a loud thud rang out. Jonah swung and landed a solid punch right on Zachary’s face.

“Shut your damn mouth! Chelsea is my wife–none of you here has the right to talk about her like that!”

Jonah had used all his might in delivering that punch. The receiver, Zachary, immediately collapsed from the strike, his mouth dripping with blood. Along with the blood, two teeth tumbled
