He leads me forward until we are up front and stands behind me with his hand laying on my adjacent hip. The photographers take pictures, and we both smile and wave at the

crowd.

Luca has his phone out and is taking pictures of us while Amber cheers. Kasey is jumping up and down, I look over and Max is looking at her like a love sick puppy.

“Congratulations Damion and Lee! Now for your Homecoming King and Queen.”

The process is repeated until everyone is crowned. Then, the our court hugs and

congratulate us, except Kristy of course.

“Congrats Lee Rex.” Blake says as he hugs me, stepping out of the line the rest of the court is

I furrow my brow and watch as he walks over to Kasey. She leans over the wall and hands him a little black box. Then, he makes his way over to me. I see Kasey give me a big smile and hold two thumbs up.

My heart flutters at the saying. I love when he calls me sweetheart, just like I know he loves it when I call him babe. It just fits.

“This is a promise. To always love you. To always protect you. To always be there for you.. And to one day… turn this into an engagement ring.” He says as he slowly slips the ring onto my left ring finger.

My eyes water a little as I stare at the beautiful, simple ring that is exactly my style.

“I love it.” I whisper to him.

“Where’s yours?” I ask.

He smirks and reaches inside his black, tight, long sleeve shirt that is under his padding and jersey. He pulls out his silver chain that he always wears, and there is a thick silver band that as a little heart opening, where my ring fits inside of it.

His says “Her Babe.”

I break out into a smile before I can even stop it, “I love you more than anything in this

world.” I tell him.

“Then I love you more than anything in the galaxy.”

After halftime

“Cruz throws the ball to Lewis… Lewis is running to the end zone aaaaand touch down Vikings!” The announcer yells as the buzzer goes off and we all cheer for the team. I hug Kasey and we both yell out of excitement.

“That means Vikings win against the Jaguars! Good game and I hope to see all the students at the dance tomorrow night. Congratulations Vikings!”

The team all takes their helmets off and cheers and claps Warren and Damion on the back.

People start to go down to the field, but I wait until Damion is done because I don’t want to

be in the way.

My eyes never stray from him. I see him bro hug all the guys and then frown as he looks around. My heat races and I start to think he might be looking for me. He pushes past the crowd and walks to the bleachers.

His eyes land on me and he gives me a charming smile. He starts to jog closer, and I go down the bleachers to meet him. He gets to the wall separating us and his arms wrap around my body and pull me over the wall. I yelp at the feeling of falling, but when I see Damion’s arms around me I know he would never let me fall.

“Congratulations babe.” I whisper to him.

He leans forwards and softly kisses my nose.

“Lets take pictures!” Mrs. Cruz yells.

We both laugh and then take about a million pictures. We do some with just me and Damion in our robes and crowns, some with the guys and Kasey, some with just me and Kasey, some with just the guys, and some with the zoo.

Luca is being such a mom. He is fixing my hair and crown, and is making sure to get good angles and lighting. He is really trying to be more present, and I love him for it.

He is home for dinner every night that I am, he doesn’t go on as many work trips and even when he does they are never longer than a few days. He asks me about my day, and makes sure I’m ok mentally. I feel like he is finally here with me, and I couldn’t be happier.
