He leaned down and bit my collarbone. 

“You’re crazy!” 

I tried to push him away, but he left one mark 

after another on my skin. 

I had to slap him.

“Wake up!” 

But he just looked at me sadly. 

“I don’t believe you have a boyfriend.” 

“If you do, tell him to come and punch me.” 

I left his house with just one sentence. 

“You are being unreasonable!” 

I felt like Ethan had changed. 

He had been sweet. 

Now, I couldn’t understand him, and he 

seemed kind of shady.

Even the Ethan from my vision, who I always 

fought with, wasn’t as hard to read as this. 

Ethan was always around my house. 

And so was Mark. 

I didn’t know if I was imagining it, but it 

seemed like Mark had a crush on my sister. 

He showed up every day to chat with her. 

It was barely fall, but I was already wearing 

turtlenecks. 

Mark saw me. “You’re sweating. Why don’t 

you take off the turtleneck?” 

Sarah started to laugh. “She’s hiding 

something. Her boyfriend bit her. These 

foreigners are wild I’m just worried my sister.

My face turned red. 

Mark joked, “That’s good. If you’re good in 

the bedroom, the relationship will last longer.” 

I was so embarrassed that I wanted to 

disappear. 

Ethan laughed. 

When Mark and my sister went out to the 

patio to talk, he leaned over to me. “Did you 

tell your sister I’m your boyfriend?” 

My face burned, and I got angry. 

“Bullshit! I forgot to lock the door when I was 

changing, and she just happened to walk in. I 

couldn’t say you kissed me, so I said it was 

my boyfriend.” 

When Mark came back inside, I took a step 

back. 

“What were you guys talking about?” 

I looked out the window. “We were saying it 

was a nice day for a walk.” 

But Ethan said at the same time, “We said 

her boyfriend is a good kisser.” 

The tension was unbelievable. 

I glared at Ethan, and he added, “And we

were talking about taking a walk. We should 

go now. A little sun would do Sarah good.” 

I walked in front with my sister. 

Ethan and Mark talked in the back. 

A few seconds later, Mark gasped. 

Sarah and I turned around at the same time. 

Mark was giving me a thumbs up. 

He came over and said I should rest, and he’d 

hang out with my sister. 

So, I ended up walking with Ethan. 

I couldn’t stand it anymore. “What were you 

talking about back there?” 

“You’re curious?” 

“Yeah.” 

“I told Mark I’m your boyfriend, and I’m the 

one who gave you those marks.” 

I felt like I was on fire. 

“Why would you say that?” 

“I’m telling the truth. You really think you can 

hide anything from your sister? She asked 

you to walk me home that night. And she can 

see your socials. I think your sister knows you 

don’t have a boyfriend.” 

I didn’t know what to say. 

He was right. 

Ethan sighed. “And Sarah sent me a 

message.” 

He held up his phone. 

Sarah had texted him, “Are you a dog? You marked Ashley up so badly! There’s an artery 

in her neck! You can kiss her, but never kiss 

her neck again.” 

And Ethan replied, “Okay, I’ll be more gentle 

next time.”
