He shook his head sadly. “He wasn’t the only 

one. His sister was not with him, but his 

mother was. But they both had very bad 

illness. He was so busy, it was hard to juggle. 

He spent more time helping his business. So 

his mother died soon!” 

“What do you mean?” I asked. 

“He did not end up with you, so he did not 

get to his end,” Mark said. “He was a normal 

dead man. But you and your sister were not.” 

It had been a while since I’d seen Ethan. 

He hadn’t been answering his phone. 

So, I went to his place. 

He opened the door.

He must have just gotten home from work. He 

was still wearing his suit, but he’d taken off 

his tie. 

“Come in.” 

He was cold. 

I must have really hurt him when I turned him 

down that day. 

He looked so sad. 

“If you hate me so much, why are you here? Is 

it an emergency?” 

“I don’t hate you.” 

For the first time, I desperately wanted to

prove how I felt about him. 

His eyes lit up for a second, but then quickly 

went dark again. 

“Just don’t hate me. You still love me.” 

“Ethan, Mark told me you knew there were 

drugs in that drink eight years ago?” 

Ethan froze. 

He nodded. 

“I did it, but I was not so sure about it. 

Nevermind what it was. Don’t tell me 

anything. Because, I …” His voice had so 

much endurance, it was almost hoarse. 

Mark has been doing so much damage! He 

said you had been running away! I did not 

know that!” 

His face was so so sad! He almost had tears. 

“I will ask him to come over and apologize.” I 

answered. 

Ethan looked so relieved when I said this. 

“No more, Mark, I will no see him again.” 

I looked at Ethan. 

“Let me tell you a story,” I said. 

I told Ethan about my journey. 

He held me while I cried. 

We were so happy. 

“We can get married today,” Ethan said. 

We did just that!
