Chapter 30 

Juno’s POV

I returned to my room, and changed into his oversized clothes. I’d realized was only one room away from Augustin’s. The shirt hung to mid–thigh, and I had to roll the shorts‘ waistband several times to keep them from falling down.

When I arrived at the garden, I noticed several ladies from the harem Eliza had invited herself too. As I passed her, I overheard her boasting to her friends about her intimate moment with Augustin that afternoon.

“He was so passionate,” she was saying. “He couldn’t keep fils hands off me.”

I realized that people respected Eliza because Augustin slept with her. She promised to teach others how to attract his attention. Stupid girls, I thought. As if Eliza would teach them how to get Augustin’s attention when that’s her only advantage.

I walked over to Scalett, who looked at my outfit with raised eyebrows.

“What are you wearing?” she asked.

“Augustin didn’t want me wearing my dress, so he gave me his clothes to wear,” I explained.

The entire party fell silent. I realized too late that I’d called him by his name and was wearing his clothes. Both were significant. 

“He’s just so ‘adorable‘,” Scarlett teased. I smiled and nodded, ignoring the fact that the party had gone silent.

“Where’s the music?” I asked, trying to change the subject.

“No music,” Scarlett replied. “We just talk, see, eat, and drink.”

I glanced at Freya, who gave me a small smile. I noticed she was drinking only juice. Since coming to Clifflands, she hadn’t touched alcohol. It seemed she’d quit completely. I was happy for her.

“Bryloch is taking me shopping tomorrow,” Scarlett told me. “Do you want anything?” 

“Are you sure you’re not falling for him?” I asked, surprised.

“He hasn’t said anything to me,” she said, shrugging. “We’re just fucking.”

“If you’re happy, I’m happy for you,” I said. We both laughed.

I took a sip of juice and sat beside Freya.

“How are you feeling?” I asked her.

“Better than yesterday,” she replied.

“Gamma is very understanding,” she continued. “He doesn’t touch me or pressure me.” She gave a small laugh. “Who would have thought Scarlett would be the one getting laid among us three?”

We had a good time at the party. When dinner time came, Scarlett, Freya, and I headed to the dining room.

On our way, Eliza stopped us. “Don’t make the Alpha bored or too excited,” she warned me. “The rest of us usually pay the price.” Before I could respond, she walked away.

Chapter 30

“What’s her problem?” Freya asked, disgust in her voice.

“It’s because I’m wearing his clothes and using his name without punishment, I explained.

“According to Bryloch, Scarlett whispered, “Augustin hasn’t slept with her.”

“I don’t think that’s true,” I disagreed. “I saw them coming out of his room together.*

“Maybe Bryloch doesn’t know about that part,” Scarlett said.

When we entered the dining room, Beta Bryloth and Gamma Adryx were already there, but Augustin was absent. I wondered where

he was. 

We sat down to wait for Augustin. When he finally appeared, he didnt say a word. He took his place at the head of the table, and I sat beside him.

He placed his hand of my bare thigh, stroking lightly. I was grateful wasn’t wearing a dress, otherwise he might have tried to put his hands in my sensitive areas.

“How was the party?” he asked.

“As expected,” I replied shortly..

As dinner ended, Augustin leaned close. “Tonight, you’ll satisfy me, he whispered.

Butterflies fluttered in my stomach. I didn’t understand why I was reacting this way. 

That night, Augustin never came to see me as he’d implied. I fell asleep with a strange sense of disappointment.

Two days passed without any sign of Augustin. It was as if he’d gone on a trip. I worried he might have gone to Forestvale to force Matthew to reject me. For everyone’s safety, I hoped that wasn’t the case.
