Chapter7 

The greasy guy didn’t die, but my 

still worse than ever.

Alpha Jason dragged me back to his hideout, his fingers digging into my cheek with an iron grip. 

“Personal Bodyguard?” 

“Alpha, let me explain.” 

My voice was shaky, “It’s a sign of respect.” 

He tilted his head, his eyes narrowing. “Are you sure it’s not an insult?” 

“How could it be an insult?” 

“Then why not call me ‘male father‘?”

“If you want to hear it, sure, ‘Dad~” 

His lips curled into a sly grin,. 

“Alright,” he said, “but ‘Dad‘ is too close. Pick a synonym.” 

I could feel my heart pounding, but I forced myself to smile, “Live dad.” 

Jason’s eyes went cold again. 

Suddenly, blood started streaming from my nose. Almost immediately, Jason’s nose bled 

too. 

He gritted his teeth. “Go somewhere cool. Don’t make my temper worse.” 

I nodded quickly and scurried back to the mansion, where I spent my days eating,

sleeping, and occasionally indulging in the disgusting foods Jason would bring me. 

Life felt absurdly peaceful. 

But on one rainy night, as I was finally drifting off, I heard noises outside the mansion. 

I pulled back the curtains, my curiosity piqued. 

There, in the storm, was Alpha Jason, flanked by his pack. They were covered in blood, their faces streaked with grime and dirt. 

Jason, though, looked untouched–his clothes perfectly pressed, his expression calm, as though he had stepped out of some gangster movie.

They had been in a battle. 

I sighed, used to this by now. It wasn’t unusual, and I really didn’t feel like getting involved. 

But then, I overheard snippets of conversation. 

“Failure,” one of them muttered. 

“We need to find the mole,” another added. 

The conversation went on, long and drawn–out, until finally, it died down. My door 

was knocked on. 

“Kamelia,” Alpha Jason’s voice echoed, distant and cold. “Come to my room.” 

I quickly threw on some clothes and hurried to his room.

I opened the door, only to find him with his back turned, undressing. 

His back muscles rippled as he removed his shirt, a thin sheen of sweat–or maybe rainwater–glimmering on his skin. 

“Alpha, this comes at an additional cost.” 

“Come in,” 

“Close the door.” 

I obeyed, trying to ignore the heat rising in my cheeks as I walked toward him. 

Before I could say another word, Jason turned to face me. 

A deep, ugly wound marred his stomach, blood still fresh and oozing.

“Boss, I’m not good at this” 

Jason leaned back, his face pale. 

“Stop the bleeding. Disinfect. Wrap it with gauze.” 

I nodded, trying not to let my hands tremble as I fumbled through the process. 

The disinfecting part made him wince slightly, but he didn’t make a sound. 

My own nerves were on edge. I couldn’t focus, so I tried to make conversation to distract myself. 

“Alpha, don’t you have a doctor in your pack? Why not let them help you?” 

“I can’t let them know, Jason replied curtly,

his voice tight. “Not yet.” 

“Why?” I pressed. 

Jason’s eyes flickered. “No reason.” 

I was puzzled. Wasn’t he the mighty Alpha? 

Like he was trusting me with something he wasn’t willing to let others see. 

I worked quickly, trying to wrap the wound as best as I could. 

Finally, when I finished, I looked up to find Jason already asleep, his body stretched out in perfect form. His posture was immaculate -this man was trained in every way. 

I couldn’t help but notice his bare chest. I was tempted to grab a shirt from his wardrobe to cover him.

It was cold, and I didn’t want him to get sick. After all, if he got sick, how would I get my next paycheck of 200k? 

As I opened his wardrobe, my fingers brushed against a small, folded piece of 

paper. 

I unfolded it, reading the words: [Rainy night, pack border.] 

Before I could process the meaning, Jason was suddenly right behind me, snatching the paper from my hand. 

I turned in shock, and before I could react, he swallowed it whole. 

Then, without warning, he grabbed my hair, yanking my head back as he leaned down to bite lightly at my neck.

Almost at the same time, both our necks were marked with deep, blood–red marks. 

“Kamelia,” he said coldly. “Leave. Tell them I let you in to do something unsavory.” 

I blinked, a rush of heat flooding my face. “Well, isn’t just a neck bite a little… insufficient?” 

Jason raised an eyebrow, intrigued. 

He leaned in, his lips brushing mine before he murmured, “Where else would you like me to bite you?” 

My heart skipped a beat. 

As I walked through the hall, several of his underlings spotted me. They smiled, calling me “sister–in–law,” some even joking about

how Jason was never gentle. 

“You don’t get it, do you? Alpha Jason’s been on edge all night. A little temper is normal.” 

“What happened tonight?” 

The underlings chuckled, then got serious. 

“They were supposed to trade with another pack, but some rogues showed up. A three–way shootout broke out, and several got hurt,. 

“Luckily, Alpha Jason led the retreat before things got worse. But the goods were taken by the rogues.” 

“What kind of goods?” I asked. 

One of them smirked, but his smile faltered. “Stuff that’s worth a lot of money.”

“So, did Jason make a lot of money? Maybe he’ll buy me a new apartment.” 

“He could buy you a city.” 

“Maybe next time, there’ll be even more,” another added. 

That night, as I lay in bed, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was caught in something.
