I rolled my eyes and pushed him away forcefully. “Don’t cry in front of me, I won’t fall for it!”
His face turned pale instantly and his hurt expression was particularly obvious under the street light.
I sneered.
Was he pretending to be affectionate now? It was too late.
I wanted to leave immediately, but suddenly I wanted him to have a taste of the heartbreak
I felt when I heard that Margot was pregnant that day.
I curled my lips and looked straight into his eyes. “I’m pregnant. It’s Jeremiah’s child.”
Like a lightning bolt, my words struck him. I smirked and continued. “If we start over, would you be willing to acknowledge this child?”
His pupils suddenly contracted and he staggered, holding onto the wall.
After a long time, he said in a hoarse voice. “Hailey … for you, I am willing to be the father of this child.”
“Dream on!”
Jeremiah’s voice suddenly came from behind.
He strode forward and hugged me in front of Cornel, with a mocking smile on his lips. “Cornell, you can’t separate us no matter how hard you try?‘
“Getting my wife divorce me? Being a father to my child?” He looked Cornell up and down with contempt. “Are you worthy enough?”
“You!” Cornell, the young professor of language and literature, who had never been humiliated before, was speechless for a moment.
I coughed awkwardly.
Jeremiah suddenly carried me up and said with concern, “Please don’t stand for too long if you are pregnant.”
Then he gritted his teeth and whispered in my ear. “He just hugged you, huh?”
My ear tips instantly felt burning. I could feel, Jeremiah was actually jealous.
I caught a glimpse of Cornel standing there in a daze, bitterness written all over his face.
I casually said, “Cornell, I was just teasing you, don’t take it seriously.”
Jeremiah glanced at him coldly, then held me in his arms and got into the car with satisfaction.
When the car started, Margot’s crazy figure suddenly flashed in the rearview mirror.
She rushed to Cornell and screamed. “Why don’t you want me! I hate you!”
His spine hunched down.
I averted my gaze to someone beside me who was full of anger. I reached out and pinched his cheek, saying, “Mr. Lynch, I’m going to get angry if you keep your face ugly.”

He sighed helplessly, then grabbed the back of my head and kissed me hard. “Now I’ve
calmed down.”
Later, I learned from my parents‘ gossip that Margot stabbed Cornell several times that night.
Looking at the man she loved in the pool of blood, she cried so hard, then turned around and cut her wrist.
She was immediately taken to hospital, but she failed to be rescued, and in the end, she passed away with her unborn child.
Meanwhile, Cornell managed to survive, but he was completely devastated.
He drank all day long, became mentally ill and finally became a homeless person.
The day I heard the news, I dug out all the birthday gifts he had given me over the years.
His paintings with the words “Happy Birthday” were sold at a sky–high price at the auction
house.
It was worthy of being the last work of Cornell Leander and as he said, it was more valuable without a name.
