Chapter 56
Cynthia’s brows knitted together in annoyance at his words, and she rose abruptly to leave.
Terrance grabbed her wrist before she could go. “Cynthia, you and your sister are both your father’s children. He can’t bear to see her struggling alone. I just want your brother to join the company and help her out, that’s all.”
She jerked her hand free.
“Brother? Who are you talking about? Roland Brown?“>
Terrance’s face tightened, and he snapped, “He’s changed his name. It’s Roland Tremaine
now.”

Cynthia let out a cold, mocking laugh. “A new last name doesn’t change his DNA, does it? Doesn’t change the fact that he’s Georgette Sutherland’s son by another man, does it?”
She knew this was Terrance’s sore spot–so she twisted the knife.
His face darkened with rage. He shot up from his chair and slapped Cynthia hard across the face.
For a moment, the room fell silent.
Cynthia grabbed the coffee mug from the table and flung its contents straight into Terrance’s face.
Hot coffee splattered everywhere, blurring Terrance’s vision.}
Cynthia stepped back, putting a safe distance between them.
ww
“You’re pathetic, you know that? When you were young, Georgette wouldn’t have anything to do with you. Then, after her husband died and she couldn’t land someone better, she finally turned to you!“>
“My mother’s been divorced from you for years. How come Georgette never gave you a child? She’s just using you as a stepping stone, and you still buy into it?“}
“And now you show up here, what, because the little trust fund Grandma left you is finally running dry? You really think you can wave a bit of cash and buy my fifteen percent of Tremaine Holdings? Keep dreaming.”
Terrance wiped the coffee from his face, his expression turning a shade darker with every word Cynthia hurled at him.
“You ungrateful brat!”
Seething, he snatched up the coffee mug and hurled it at her.
Cynthia dodged, only to collide into something solid–a wall of muscle.
But the pain she expected never came. Stunned, she looked up.
The mug had hit Dominic square in the chest, leaving a dark stain on his black shirt that only emphasized the firm, sculpted lines beneath.
“You…” Cynthia stammered, embarrassment creeping in. Why did he always seem to show up at the worst possible moments?
Dominic didn’t even look at her. His cool, enigmatic eyes settled on Terrance as he spoke with effortless composure.
“Mr. Tremaine, what’s got you so worked up?”
Terrance hadn’t expected to find Dominic here. Flustered, he hurried to grab a handful of napkins, thrusting them toward Dominic. The anger on his face instantly melted into obsequiousness.}
I’m so sorry, Dominic. I lost my head with this girl and didn’t see you there. Total accident, I swear.”
Dominic didn’t take the napkins. His voice was calm, almost detached.

After all these years, Mr. Tremaine, you haven’t changed a bit. I thought striking out on your own after leaving the Tremaines might have mellowed you, but apparently not.”
He flicked the coffee from his sleeve with a careless gesture,
“Consider yourself lucky it was me you hit. Anyone else, and you might not get off with just an apology.“}
His tone was smooth and unruffled, betraying nothing.
Despite being the older man, Terrance could only force a stiff smile in Dominic’s presence.”
“It’s all her fault, really. This girl is impossible sometimes–1 just lost my temper.“2
He shot a glare at Cynthia, all traces of gentlemanly charm gone.
“You know what I mean, Dominic. You’ve seen just how difficult she can be.”%
