Chapter 58
Her mind had been wandering just moments ago, so she hadn’t even realized she was following the wrong person, simply trailing instinctively behind.
She hurried to catch up with Dominic’s brisk stride. “Mr. Holloway, my car’s in the lower parking lot. I can drive myself and meet you at the destination.”
Dominic glanced at his watch, his brow furrowed. “Let Assistant Shaw drive you
car over. I’m on a tight schedule.”
Assistant Shaw stepped forward, all polite professionalism. “Miss Tremaine, may I have
Cynthia nodded, a bit dazed, and fished her car keys from her purse, handing them over.
Assistant Shaw thanked her and walked off.

Dominic had already climbed into the car. The driver stood waiting beside the open door, gesturing for Cynthia to get in.”
Pressing her lips together, Cynthia ducked inside and slid into the seat next to Dominic.
The driver gently shut the door behind her before returning to the front.
No sooner had the driver settled in than Dominic spoke quietly, “Get her an ice pack.”
Cynthia quickly shook her head. “Oh, I don’t eat ice cream.“>
Dominic glanced over at her, saying nothing.
The driver merely smiled and reached into the cooler between the front seats, pulling out an ice pack and handing it to her. “Miss Tremaine, here–you should put this on your face.”}
Cynthia’s mouth dropped open slightly as embarrassment crashed over her. Only now did her cheek–barely sore burn.
Dominic must have some sort of curse: every time they met, he managed to hit her right in the pride.
She forced a laugh and took the ice pack with both hands. “Thank you.“>

No way he’d take credit for that.
Cynthia turned, offering thanks. “Thank you, Mr. Holloway.”
Dominic just gave a noncommittal grunt, not bothering to look at her as he pulled a tissue from the box beside him.
As Cynthia was about to press the ice pack to her cheek, Dominic’s long arm shot out and took it from her. He paused for wrapped the ice pack in the tissue before handing it back.
Cynthia hesitated, then accepted it. “Thanks.“}

Cynthia quietly turned away, pressing the tissue–wrapped ice pack to her cheek. With the tissue as a buffer, the cold wasn’t quite so harsh. She sensed a touch of kindness from Dominic, which brought a fleeting warmth to her chest–though it was quickly replaced with awkwardness.[
The car fell silent.2
Domenic was focused on his game, though his skills were clearly lacking. Cynthia watched for a moment, at a loss for words, her thoughts sluggish. She ended up staring out the window instead.”
She might’ve been better off not looking. As her gaze drifted outside, she caught sight of a car pulling up alongside theirs.
Inside, Giselle was feeding Benedict slices of fresh fruit from a plate, her face glowing with happiness as she coaxed him to take a bite

Cynthia grimaced and quickly looked away, fighting a sudden wave of nausea.
They say bad luck comes in threes, but this was starting to feel personal.
Just as she’d finally managed to pull herself together, seeing them ruined her mood all over again.
Benedict glanced away from Giselle’s fork, and his eyes flicked toward Cynthia’s car, his expression darkening as he caught a glimpse of her profile
