Crimes Without Evidence Chapter 05

Inside the box were dozens of photographs.

Dozens of photographs of tortured girls.

The topmost one showed a girl, completely naked, spread-eagled, with syringes stuck all over her body. Her death was extremely gruesome.

I felt as if all the blood in my body had frozen in an instant.

Professor Smith leaned on his arm, looking at me with great interest, his eyes gleaming with mockery.

“So you’ve discovered it after all.”

“You’re… the West Side Killer?”

I asked, my voice trembling.

He crouched down, slowly moving closer to me, stroking my hair and taking a deep breath.

“Such beautiful blonde hair. I moved here just for you.”

“Oh Emily, Emily, you don’t know how much I love you.”

I tried to stand up, but found my limbs weak and numb. I collapsed to the floor with a thud.

“Your tea…”

“Emily, you may be pretty, but  you’re too stupid. The police haven’t shown up for an hour and you still didn’t suspect me?””

He smugly waved the phone in his hand.

“I never called the cops at all. These past few days, I’ve been trying to figure out how to lure you in. Who knew you’d deliver yourself right to my doorstep?”

He licked his lips, having clearly transformed into a predator. My consciousness gradually faded, and everything went black as I passed out on the spot.

When I regained consciousness, I found myself tied tightly to the bed, wearing only my underwear. My mouth was also stuffed.

Professor Smith was shirtless, with

the bedside table covered in various torture implements.

“Which one should we play with first today?”

Tears streamed from the corners of my eyes, and muffled whimpers escaped my throat.

He picked up a syringe and waved it in front of my face. It contained a thick, nauseating liquid.

I froze for a moment, my eyes blazing with intense hatred.

“I remember killing a girl two years ago. You two look remarkably alike.”

Professor Smith’s face bore a sick

smile as he pressed the cold, massive needle against my cheek.

“When I first saw you, I was stunned for a moment. I thought you were a vengeful spirit coming to claim my life.”

“It’s perfect. Last time, I didn’t get to have as much fun as I wanted. She died after only a dozen or so injections.”

“Today, you’ll have to hold out a bit longer.”

I was powerless to struggle, my eyes filled with despair.

I never imagined that after escaping the wolf’s den, I’d fall into the tiger’s mouth. It seemed my fate was sealed, destined to die here today.

The massive needle pierced my skin, and the excruciating pain caused immediate swelling. But I didn’t struggle, just glared hatefully at the crazed Professor Smith.

“It hurts, it really hurts. Back then, did she feel this much pain too?”

“No, she must have felt even more pain than this.”

I started crying uncontrollably, soaking the sheets.

Just as he was about to proceed with his next move, grinning maliciously, the door opened.

A blast of cold air instantly rushed into the room, making me shiver.

A man’s shadow appeared behind Professor Smith.

Professor Smith instinctively turned his head.

The sharp knife tip plunged

directly into his eye socket.

“Ah!”

Professor Smith let out an  agonizing scream, clutching his  injured eye and rolling on the ground.

Holt watched him coldly, his eyes filled with murderous intent.

“You dare touch my darling?”

Another stab, and Professor Smith’s other eye was viciously gouged out.

He curled up in pain, unable to even scream anymore.

A glimmer of hope flashed in my eyes as I struggled with all my might.

Holt looked at the swollen  injection site on my arm, tears welling up in his eyes, his face full of heartache.

“I’m sorry darling, I came too late.”

He untied the ropes binding me  and held me tightly in his arms.

I hugged him back, sobbing uncontrollably.

“Darling, I told you, those who hurt you will pay the price,” he said.

He held my shoulders and looked at me tenderly.

“Get some rest now. It’s time for him to face the consequences.”

His cold lips pressed against my forehead.

Before losing consciousness again, I saw him walking towards Professor Smith, knife in hand, step by step.
