Chapter 11
“The scar on my back vanished years ago, thanks to a brilliant physician I found. Not a trace remains. Brother, after all I’ve done- after saving your life–is this how you repay me?”
Her voice trembled with raw anguish, leaving him stunned into silence.
In truth, his memories of that night were fragmented–hazy flashes of chaos before darkness swallowed him whole. How could he recall the details clearly?
Yet the pain in Julienne’s eyes was undeniable. His resentment wavered.
“Enough,” he murmured, pulling her close. “My mind’s a mess. I shouldn’t have accused

you.”
She sobbed into his chest, her tears soaking his shirt. But she missed the shadow of doubt flickering in his gaze.
Two days passed.
My parents scoured every corner of the cruise ship, desperate for any sign of me. Nothing.
Once Julienne finally succumbed to exhaustion, my brother motioned to his subordinate, pressing my phone into his hands.
“Recover the data. I need answers,” he ordered, voice low.

As the man hurried off, Cormac dialed another number, his tone sharp. “Track down the men I hired. Tell them to stay hidden- unless they want a cell waiting for them.”
The line went dead.
He stared at the endless stretch of ocean,
fists clenched.

A sudden commotion shattered the silence.
On the deck, my father crumpled mid–step, clutching his chest. His telescope clattered to the ground.

“Darling!” My mother lunged forward, barely catching him as my brother sprinted over.
“Where’s the damn doctor?!” Cormac roared, veins bulging as he lowered our father onto the deck.
Miraculously, the ship’s physician–the same one who’d treated me–arrived within moments, medical kit in hand.
He pried open my father’s mouth, slipping a sliver of Salvia beneath his tongue before examining his pupils.
“Stress–induced cardiac episode,” the doctor announced. “Oxygen, medication, and rest -he’ll stabilize. But another shock like this could trigger a full infarction.”
My mother’s tears fell unchecked. “What

could’ve upset him? That phone call–was it bad news?”
Cormac snatched the phone, redialing the last number.
The voice on the other end wasted no time:
They’d located the masked men from the ship.
