Ch. For Adopted Daughter, My Parents Ruin Me Ch 19 For Adopted Daughter, My Parents Ruin Me Ch 19

Chapter 3

I watched Sophie and Oliver leave. The joy I’d felt when Oliver had stopped to speak to me vanished instantly. It was like a bucket of ice–cold water had been thrown over me.

Was that really what he thought of me? That I was some evil murderer?

My heart ached, and my stomach churned. I headed to the kitchen to grab something to eat, but there was nothing. All that was left was half a slice of bread.

I ate it with a few slices of cheese, but it didn’t even come close to filling me up. A maid walked by and rolled her eyes when she saw me. Maybe she thought I hadn’t noticed.

When she saw the bread, she pretended to be shocked. “Oh my God! Don’t tell me you ate that, Ms. Isabella. I was supposed to throw it away. Ms. Sophie and your brothers woke up early, so we made breakfast according to their schedule. I can make you something now if you want.”

I frowned at the annoyed look on her face, then turned down her fake offer. I could feel the sharp pain in my stomach, but I just endured it as I headed back to the attic. There was no place for me in this family, and even the maids treated me like I was

worthless.

The pain in my stomach made it hard to keep my emotions in check. My hands shook as I took the painkillers, then grabbed the cold water next to me and swallowed it down. After a while, the discomfort eased a little.

I changed into some fresh clothes and put on a bit of makeup, hoping to look more lively. My first stop was a funeral supply store. Since I only had one day left, I couldn’t order a custom urn, so I picked out my favorite design from what was available. This urn would be my home in the future.

When I left the store with the urn in my arms, I could feel people staring at me with odd or surprised looks, but I ignored them. I had more important things to do.

I passed by Lucas’s school on the way. Class had just let out, and I could hear the students laughing. I watched them with a twinge of envy–they were so full of life, so free. Unlike them, I hadn’t set foot in a school

since I was ten.

I was about to leave when I saw Lucas step out of the car and head inside. Since it was

my last day in this world, I gathered the courage to jog up to him.

But as I got closer, I saw him frowning while. talking on the phone. When he saw me, a flash of wariness flickered in his eyes. He said, “Got it.”

Then, he hung up and stalked over to me. I wanted to ask him to have dinner with me that night, but the look in his eyes made me hesitate.

He snarled, “Isabella, if you want to stay in this house, you’d better keep those dangerous thoughts to yourself. If I find out what you’ve done to Sophie, I swear, I’ll make you regret it so much, you’ll wish you were never born.”
