Chapter 6 

In my previous life, it was this very lie from Lianna that damned me, sealing my fate. 

Back then, I knew nothing. 

Not until Hubert stormed to my door in a blind rage did I learn of the monstrous crime pinned 

onto me. 

I tried to defend myself, but he gave me no chance and sold me straight into the Golden Triangle. 

But this time… things were different. 

I had an alibi. 

Yet what I never expected was that the moment Lianna finished her words, Hubert hung up on her without hesitation. 

Without warning, his palm crashed across my face, the force making my head snap to the side. “You vile woman!” he roared. “No wonder you refused to tell me where Lianna was hiding. So it was you-you caused her to lose the baby!” 

The sudden slap stunned me. 

I stared at him, wide-eyed, unable to believe what I had just heard. 

Yes, I always knew Hubert was foolish-otherwise Lianna wouldn’t have been able to play him for so long, right under his nose, without being exposed. 

But I never imagined he was this stupid. 

We had been together this whole time. Wouldn’t any normal person at least ask about the timing of Lianna’s so-called miscarriage? 

But no. Without a second thought, he pinned everything on me. 

And with his accusation, the crowd immediately followed suit, their fury reignited. 

“I thought this woman was just greedy and shameless-turns out she’s downright vicious!” 

“Cheating people out of money is one thing, but to cause a miscarriage? What did her best friend ever do to deserve this?” 

“No wonder she didn’t defend herself when we cursed her earlier-she must’ve known she’d done something far worse!” 

Even Blake’s eyes widened, his face filled with disgust and disappointment. 

My chest tightened with rage. I turned to Hubert and shouted, “Can’t you at least ask when Lianna supposedly miscarried before jumping to conclusions?!” 

His response came without a shred of doubt. “Do I need to ask? Didn’t you hear Lianna herself say you pushed her?” 

“Lianna is so kind and innocent-why would she ever lie to me?” 

“It’s obvious! Before I came looking for you, you had already hurt her. That’s why you wouldn’t tell 

me where she was!” 

“Celestine, you’ve been hiding the truth just to cover up your crime!” 

The more he spoke, the more frenzied he became, his jaw clenched so tightly I thought he’d grind 

his teeth to dust. 

My heart sank with exhaustion. “So you’ll believe her no matter what?” 

“Of course!” he barked. “Lianna is my wife! If I don’t believe her, should I believe a leech like you? A parasite who drains others dry?” 

“I’ve asked you countless times where Lianna was, but you refused to say. Now that your lies are falling apart, you want to twist the truth?” 

His unwavering faith in Lianna made me sigh heavily. 

Word by word, I said, “What if I told you Lianna lost the baby because she was cheating-and the man she was with was your driver? Would you believe me?” 

Upon hearing that, Hubert froze. His brows knit tightly as he glared at me, eyes burning with hatred. 

“Celestine, are you insane?!” 

“To cover your own sins, you’ll even spew out lies this filthy?” 

“Do you think everyone else is as dirty-minded as you? That all we think about is sordid affairs between men and women?” 

He dismissed my words without hesitation. 

I gave a bitter laugh. “See? You don’t believe me. And you wonder why I refused to speak before.” “But it doesn’t matter.” My voice steadied, calm and deliberate. “Because this time, I can prov everything I’ve said is true.” 

Something in my tone must have struck him-whether it was my solemnity, or simply the unease gnawing at the back of his mind. 

For the first time, Hubert didn’t lash out immediately. 

Instead, he narrowed his eyes at me, seemingly deep in thought. Seconds later, he slowly asked ‘…How will you prove it?”
