Goodbye Was Just the Beginning - Chapter 17
One of the neighbors couldn’t stand the noise, so they eventually called the apartment’s management office.
Upon talking with the management staff, Jonathan learned Ruth had moved out long ago. She had also asked the management to help sell the unit.
Jonathan knew nothing about where she moved or whether she was still in Pinehelm City. He didn’t know when she would return or if she would return.
He only had a thought that set off immense panic in his heart. It was like a frightening beast that lurked in the dark, waiting for the right moment to engulf him.
The thought was that he had lost Ruth, and he may have lost her forever.
…
Every one of Evelyn and Portia’s schemes against Ruth soon came to light.
Even the Chilcott residence’s housekeepers stood up for Ruth. They expressed their disappointment with how she was unjustly treated.
Evelyn and Portia experienced utter humiliation the day they got kicked out of the Chilcott family’s mansion. Everyone insulted and was aggressive toward then as though they were despised criminals.
Jonathan stood beneath the once–flowering crabapple trees in the garden. His eyes reddened all of a sudden. He knew those withered flowers could still bloom again someday. However, remain people would never return after leaving.
These days, Wallace did everything he could to contact Ruth. He did it countless times. However, Ruth always ended the call without saying anything whenever she heart Wallace and Jonathan’s voices
When Ruth left Finehelm City, she brought nothing but her belongings and the inheritance her mother left for her. The Chilcott residence was nothing more than empty now.
Wallace and Jonathan knew Ruth would never return.
The sounds of women arguing, bawling, and cursing rang from not far away. Evelyn and Portia revealed their hideous natures now that their dreams of living in a wealthy family had shattered
“Open your suitcases. I want someone to inspect them,” said Wallace, who looked drained as he stood at the top of the stairs.
Jonathan took in the shriveled, old Wallace. He found the latter as pitiful and ridiculous as himself.
It was bizarre that they had forced someone as amazing as Ruth to leave because of such wretched women like Evelyn and Portia.
It seemed that was their punishment. Karma made sure they get what they deserved.
Evelyn and Portia refused to open their luggage. They began whining and causing a scene, but it was no use. Evelyn’s and Portia’s dozens of massive suitcases were forcefully opened in the end.
Many expensive bags and jewelry were hidden beneath piles of their clothes
“They aren’t allowed to take anything else apart from the clothes,” Wallace ordered with a steely expression.
The two women cried as they lunged ahead, trying to keep the jewelry back into their grasps.
Alas, the bodyguards forced them aside. Not only did the valuables get removed from their luggage, but even the jewelry they wore was removed
Evelyn thrashed around so relentlessly that she tore her ear lobe in the process. Because of that, blood dripped down her neck and onto her chest. She looked utterly, terrifying.
