The party ended in chaos, and the packhouse was thrown into a state of panic. Warriors scattered, forming search parties as Damien barked orders, his voice sharp and unwavering.
But nothing—nothing—could ease the unimaginable fear gripping Felicia’s chest.
She sat in the living room, her body shaking violently as sobs racked her entire frame.
“My boys…” she cried, her voice raw, her breath coming in short, uneven gasps.
Her hands dug into her hair, her nails scraping against her scalp as her mind raced with terrifying images of what could be happening to Danny and Max right now.
Were they scared? Were they crying for her? Were they hurt?
The thought made her sob harder, her entire body wracked with anguish.
Damien was standing near the fireplace, his back stiff as he gave Xavier sharp instructions.
“Take half the warriors and search the western borders. The other half will head toward the river trail—she wouldn’t have been able to vanish without a trace. She’s fast, but she’s not invisible.”
Xavier nodded grimly, his expression tense. “I’ll personally lead one of the teams.”
Felicia gripped her chest, her lungs aching.
Damien finally turned to her, his gaze dark with concern. He took a step toward her, reaching out, but Felicia jerked away, her eyes flashing with fury.
“You said we’d be safe!” she snapped, her voice cracking with raw pain. “It hasn’t even been a full day, Damien! A full day! And my babies are already gone!”
Damien flinched, but his expression hardened. “Our kids.”
Felicia’s heart clenched, her breath coming out in shaky gasps.
“I will find them, Felicia.” His voice was low, steady, unshakable. “I swear it.”
But Felicia couldn’t stop the panic clawing at her throat.
Her hands shook violently as she looked at him, tears streaming down her face. “You don’t understand, Damien. Danielle—Daphne—whatever she is—she’s unhinged. She could be hurting them right now!”
Damien’s jaw tightened, his entire body bristling with suppressed rage. “I do understand. That’s why I won’t stop until I bring them home.”
Before Felicia could say anything else, a sudden knock at the door interrupted them.
One of the messengers hurried in, his face pale, his breathing ragged.
“Alpha. Luna. This was found in the garden after the party was cut short.”
Felicia snatched the note from his hands, her fingers trembling as she unfolded it.
Her blood turned to ice as her eyes scanned the scrawled handwriting.
“Did you think I came here just to cause a little chaos? No, no, Felicia. That was just a distraction.”
“Your twins are special, more special than you even realize. A unique lineage—one that will make me unstoppable.”
“They belong to me now.”
“If you want them back, you’ll have to be willing to make sacrifices. And I promise you, by the time you find them…”
“They won’t be the same.”
Felicia’s hands shook violently as she read the last line.
She felt like the air had been ripped from her lungs.
The note slipped from her fingers, fluttering to the floor.
“No,” she whispered, her entire body frozen in horror.
Damien grabbed the note, scanning it quickly, his eyes flashing with deadly rage.
His fists curled so tightly the paper crumpled beneath his grip.
Xavier swore under his breath. “She’s planning something bigger than we thought.”
Felicia felt sick.
She gripped Damien’s arms, her nails digging into his skin, her voice bordering on hysteria.
“We need to go. Now.”
Damien didn’t hesitate. “We will.”
Felicia’s vision blurred with tears, but one thing was crystal clear—
She would tear the world apart to get her sons back.
