I Woke Up - Chapter (13)

Chapter 13 Objection
After the hug, the atmosphere in the room grew strange once again.
Occasional sobs broke the silence.
After a long pause, Edgar finally let out a quiet sigh and broke the silence.
“How about this? For now, let’s put the moving–in arrangements on hold and give the kids some time to adjust. Let’s handle the paperwork first. Otherwise, it’ll be troublesome to deal with formalities later.”
No one had any objections to that.
Only Jamila clenched her skirt tightly, lips pressed together.
Once the paperwork was done, she wouldn’t be legally connected to the family anymore… But even with a thousand protests in her heart, Jamila dared not speak up.
She was trembling with her head lowered.
“Then, I also suggest transferring Fiorella to Mila’s school… Whatever happens, education matters.”
Edgar had his reasons.
The school transfer was both the simplest and most important step.
Though Fiorella had admirable character despite being raised elsewhere, he wouldn’t say the same about her mindset given such
circumstances.

He would handle the paperwork first and then enroll her in an elite school. This would help her understand that she hadn’t been abandoned by her family.
Once she settled into this life, performed well academically, and behaved properly, then bringing her home would no longer spark any opposition.
His compromise left no room for criticism.
“She’s your daughter, Edgar. It’s your call.”
“I agree too. Let’s do as you say. Take it slow.”
People were seconding him.
Jamila forced a smile as well. “Daddy, you’ve really thought everything through. It’s true that Fiorella should take her time to adjust. And we’ll get to study together at school.”
Jamila was only pretending.
Thanks to her identity as a Huerta heiress, she had always enjoyed respect at school. Even the teachers treated her with deference, not to mention her classmates.
But now, Fiorella was going to attend the same school…
If people found out that she wasn’t really a rich heiress but just a child who’d been mistakenly raised, what would her classmates think?
Once the real Huerta daughter returned, who would even bother to look at her?
Under the table, Jamila’s hand curled into a tight fist.

But… she took comfort in one thing.
A sly smile crept onto her lips.
Once they were at school, that would be her territory…
No matter what the papers said, if the family didn’t truly accept Fiorella, it would all just be meaningless.
“Fia, how does that sound? Let’s start with that. Once you’ve settled in, we’ll take it from there…”
Sandra spoke gently by her side.
Fiorella nodded and replied calmly, “Mom… it’s up to you. I’ll do as you decide.”
Seeing her daughter so mature and understanding, Sandra felt a sting in her chest, tears almost falling again.
The matter of coming home would have to wait. No one knew when her child would truly return…
Holding back her sobs, she whispered, “Then… I’ll start working on it.”
Since transferring school seemed to be a good idea, Harry began giving instructions for the next steps.
When asked for her opinion, Fiorella responded with agreement, making no additional requests.
She didn’t want to come across as too eager like she was trying to gain something from this family.
After all, the paperwork was already a done deal.

It had been done in her past life too, but in the end, it meant nothing. No one cared for her. She depended on that fragile blood tie for a bit of affection. Yet in the end, she died with regret…
Now, everything was just beginning…
“Well then, I suppose that settles…”
“I’m against it!”
There it was.
