Chapter 14 Cousin 

A sudden shout interrupted the conversation.

Everyone turned their eyes toward the voice of opposition.

Amid all the surprise, only one person showed a flicker of secret delight.

“Nick…”

Jamila called out softly, as though calling for her one and only savior.

“I don’t agree with her becoming part of our family!”

Nicholas seated at the far end stood up in righteous anger. He glared fiercely at Fiorella, his eyes brimming with hostility.

“Nicholas, what are you going on about? Sit down!”

Bronson Huerta, sitting nearby, hurriedly tugged at his son’s arm, afraid he’d say something inappropriate.

But Nicholas shook off Bronson’s hand and shouted, “I said I don’t agree to her coming back!”

Worried that others might misunderstand his meaning, he pointed directly at Fiorella, his tone and gaze dripping with disdain.

Fiorella said nothing. She simply stared back at him.

He knew he was the eldest grandson. Coupled with his towering height and aggressive demeanor, he was reckless and domineering. No one dared to challenge him. He became increasingly arrogant, picking up bad habits like smoking, drinking, and womanizing.

In her previous life, he was just like this, hostile toward her, and joined forces with Jamila to drive her out.

Jamila fought her with cunning while he came at her openly.

Public insults and humiliation and even beatings and kicks…

Nicholas thought he had won a beautiful battle, secretly pleased with himself. Little did he know that he had just spilled everything.

The fact that Fiorella had been lost to the family for years had always been a sore spot for them.

Instead of standing with his family, Nicholas lashed out with cruel words and pushed Fiorella even further away… He was offending her parents, too.

What was even more ironic was that Jamila was the one who was actually the “bumpkin“… If someone overheard, they might have thought he was trying to insult Jamila.

With just a few sentences, Nicholas had managed to offend multiple people.

He didn’t just embarrass himself. He disgraced his parents too. Things were turning ugly.

Jamila, on the other hand, didn’t mind. She had seen this coming.
