“Please, don’t say things like that again, alright? It could easily cause misunderstandings.” Fiorella blushed, giving the girl a slightly reproachful look.
“Sorry, just kidding.”
The girl who spoke was named Jacqueline Arellano.
She was petite with short hair and a high–pitched voice, resembling a little bird. Her lively personality made her very likable, but she was also known for being nosy and prone to gossip.
She always had the latest gossip in school, and the famous ID on the campus forum, Jocelyn, was hers.
Thanks to her various gossip, she was quite popular online, arguably the top internet user in the school.
Although she had no ill intentions towards Fiorella, it could be troublesome if someone like Jamila exploited her.
As they were talking, Jacqueline’s attention shifted to her phone.
“Am I seeing this right? Fiorella, is this the phone that the Finley Group is releasing at the end of the year?”
Her exclamation drew the attention of others.
“Holy shit! Isn’t this the latest model? How did you get it, Fiorella? It’s still only being advertised, right?”

“The Finley Group is very strict internally. Such products can’t possibly leak out early!”
“Where did you get this phone?”
Hearing the news, many students gathered around.
“I have an acquaintance inside the Finley Group. Actually, it was the person I was talking to on the phone, and he gave it to me.”
Fiorella didn’t want to reveal specifics, but she wasn’t lying either.
Everyone assumed it was a gift from a relative.
But this relative must be someone with significant influence within the Finley Group.
“Your new phone looks so nice. Can I touch it?”
“Jacqueline, haven’t you ever seen a phone before? Gawking like that is quite rude.”
A sharp rebuke interrupted Jacqueline’s action.
The speaker had thick, light brown wavy hair. She was tall and beautiful, appearing slightly more mature than her peers.
She stood out in the crowd.
Fiorella’s expression softened. It was Miranda Chapman, her
roommate.
Miranda was cheerful and caring, like an older sister. She was devoted to her friends and somewhat well–known in their grade.
Before Jamila started spreading rumors, Miranda had been very kind to

her in the dormitory. Unfortunately, she later moved out and they hadn’t spoken since.
Jacqueline stuck out her tongue in embarrassment. “Sorry, Fiorella. I’ve just been wanting to get a new phone, and this one is literally my dream model.”
“It’s fine. You can take a look if you want.”
With that, Fiorella handed the phone to Jacqueline.
Jacqueline was taken aback. Fiorella didn’t mind her snooping around her business and even handed over her phone. A mix of surprise and delight washed over her as she accepted it, handling it like a precious treasure as she eagerly flipped through the screen.
“Oh my gosh! The feel, the color, the texture! It’s perfect. I have to ace this month’s exam so Mom will get me one too!”
Miranda, crossing her arms with an amused, slightly exasperated expression, shook her head.
“Sorry about her. Jacqueline’s always been like this; she doesn’t mean any harm. I forgot to introduce myself. I’m Miranda Chapman, the class president. Since you’re new here, if you need anything or find anything difficult to adjust to, just let me know.”
Miranda hadn’t changed a bit. Looking at the hand she extended, Fiorella smiled and shook it.
“Thank you. I appreciate that.”
Miranda’s friendly gesture seemed to break the ice. A few classmates who had been hovering at the edges, too shy to approach earlier, now gathered a bit closer.

“Fiorella, you look really familiar. Have we met somewhere before?”
One classmate spoke up.
“I’m not sure. Probably not.”
Fiorella turned her gaze towards the classmate who had spoken, but her mind drew a blank.
“Are you trying to hit on her?”
Jacqueline joked.
Everyone burst into laughter. At this moment, a female classmate pulled out her phone and held it up, showing the screen to Fiorella.
“Fiorella, is this you in the news?”
On the phone screen, it clearly read “Genius girl,” “Hockey National Championships Under–16 Champion,” and other such phrases.
