In the other ward. 

Warren felt a sense of unease as he watched the sky outside gradually darken. 

Madilyn noticed his strangeness, her eyes dimmed, and she spoke with a red–eyed, feigned 

grievance. 

“Warren, can you stay with me tonight? I’m really scared. Please don’t leave me alone, okay?” 

She sobbed and cried, looking pitiful. 

Seeing Madilyn crying with tears streaming down her face, Warren instinctively wanted to agree to 

her. 

As the words were about to be spoken, Carissa’s pale face and her eyes, which turned red with suppressed pain during the abduction, suddenly flashed through my mind. 

Somehow, his heart seemed to have been pricked by a needle, causing a dense and throbbing pain. 

He furrowed his brow and rejected Madilyn’s request. 

“Jared has been caught, you don’t have to worry about him coming to find you anymore. Carie was scared this time, I have to go back and accompany her. It’s late now, you should rest early too. I’ll come see you again tomorrow.”
