it more severe than mine. Even after I recovered, he was still lying in a hospital bed.
“I heard Linda went to see him,” Rachel said as she came over to visit, holding a large bouquet of lilies.
She even comforted him, saying it wasn’t his fault–that you were the heartless one.
She scoffed, shaking her head. “Two peas in a pod. They’re the ones who tried to break your leg, so tell me–how does that make you the heartless one?”
I glanced at the flowers in her hands. “Those must’ve cost a lot. The prize money was for all of you. You should’ve kept it.”
“It’s fine. Everyone chipped in when we found our you were going abroad. They asked me to buy these and bring them to you.”
She pushed the bouquet into my hands, then took a deep breath as if gathering her courage,
