Reborn for Revenge - Chapter (36)
Ch. My previous life 36 My previous life 36
I wanted her to believe she had won, that she had everything she’d ever dreamed of.
Then, just before dawn, I wanted her to watch it all crumble to ash before her eyes.
That was what I experienced in my past life.
This time, it was Linda’s tum,
The last person I went to see was Alec.
In truth, Thadn’t planned on visiting him at all.
Linda had always been my sworn enemy, and Shawn was tied to me by blood.
But Alec?
After my love for him completely vanished, he and I became nothing more than strangers.
But the police informed me that Alec wanted to see me.
So, separated by a glass pane, we sat face to face.
He stared at me in silence for a long moment, his gaze
are unreadable.
I grew impatient and stood up. “What do you want?”
“It wasn’t supposed to be like this,” he murmured, his voice low. “The Wood family should have been mine, and we were supposed to be engaged.”
I fruze mid–step, then turned sharply to face him.
His dark eyes locked onto mine, a glint of something unfathomable flickering in their depths.
For a moment, as I stared at him, if not for the faint scar on his forehead, I might have mistaken him for the Aloc of my past life.
Realization hit me, and I couldn’t help but laugh at the absurday of it all.
“Engaged? is that all? Why not go ahead and mention what happens next? How you used me to gain everything from the Wood family, then teamed up with Shawn to kill me.!
His voice cracked as he replied,
“But I regretted it later”
He lowered his gaze. “It’s just… by then, it was already too late. You never knew. I wanted you to know. I desperately wanted you to know..
This was so absurd.
Too ridiculous.
“That’s right,” I said, my tone sharp and cutting. “I was already dead. Of course, I didn’t know”
I tumed back toward him, resting my hand against the glass.
Meeting his gaze, I said, enunciating every word, “But even if I knew, what difference would it make? Do you think I’d care about your regrets? This time, I’m the one who won. And you? You’re the one rotting in hell
“Aloc Rivers, this is exactly what you deserve.”
Winter came early that year.
By the time I left, the sky outside had already turned dark.
Zoe called to tell me she’d be heading abroad after the New Year to start a new experiment at a research institute,
Lagreed and wished her all the best.
After the call ended, a message popped up on my messenger from Rachel, saying she was already seated at the restaurant and told me to hurry
over to settle the bill.
Ichuckled and replied with a simple, “Got it.”
Outside the car window, a crescent moon hung high in the sky, casting a faint glow over the inky darkness of the night.
Once this night ended, and the moon sank below the horizon, my sun would rise again.
