Chapter 7

“You guys actually made me marry a dog and…”

Susan Moore hadn’t even finished speaking before Jessica Grant dragged her down by her hair.

“Shut up! What dog isn’t a dog!” Jessica snapped fiercely.

“When someone is pregnant with my son’s flesh and blood, letting him suck the essence and blood, giving birth to a child and then possessing it–he will naturally live again as a human being!”

Susan trembled all over hearing this.

“What do you mean, ‘suck essence and blood‘? What are you trying to do to me?!”

Jessica sneered cruelly.

“You? Not worthy yet!”

“You’re just a lousy woman like you, who’s slept with who knows how many men and you still dare to lie to me about being a virgin!”

“If it weren’t for you suddenly showing up and ruining our plans–causing us to pick the wrong person–the Yin fetus would’ve already formed. I’d love to beat you to death right now!”

The more Jessica spoke, the angrier she got and she kicked Susan again. Susan instantly spat out a mouthful of bloody foam.

At the mention of “the wrong person,” Susan immediately understood something.

‘Right, right, wrong–everything’s wrong.”

‘The person you’re looking for isn’t me. It’s Lena Quinn–my roommate Lena Quinn. She’s never been in love. She’s definitely the one you want!”

Susan explained that it was Lena who was with her at the time. It was because Lena had refused to keep Teddy that Susan had softened and stayed.

Hearing this, Nathan Grant seemed to remember the situation at that moment as well.

‘Mom, there were indeed two women back then. She should be telling the truth.”

Sensing the situation was turning, Susan quickly tried to save herself.

‘I didn’t mean to cause trouble. Don’t kill me–I can help you find her, really!”

‘Please, just let me go!”

quickly cut off the video and erased all of Susan’s contact info from my phone, then urged the driver.

‘Master, please drive faster! I’m in a hurry!”

‘No can do! There’s a traffic jam up ahead. Can’t you see? We haven’t moved in ten minutes!” Because I’d been too focused watching the video with my headphones on, I hadn’t even noticed the traffic. Looking up, I saw the long lines of cars blocking the road–no wonder I hadn’t reached the airport yet.

Meanwhile, Jessica realized Susan couldn’t be reached by phone and she had already sent someone to search my rented room. Luckily, I had left first, though panic still gnawed at me. But

I comforted myself–they shouldn’t know I had seen everything yet, so they wouldn’t think I was trying to run away.

While thinking this, I suddenly heard Jessica’s furious shout.

“No one? Where could she have gone in the middle of the night? Find her! Search the whole city!” Luckily, just as I thought, the traffic started moving slowly again and I was about to relax. Then Susan’s words made my heart tighten.

“She… she should be on the highway to the airport. Looks like she’s running.”

I only saw Susan pick up her phone and hand it to Jessica. I didn’t know what was on it, but Jessica’s expression darkened.

“Why would she run? It doesn’t make sense–she shouldn’t even know…”

Jessica then searched the room thoroughly and quickly found something unusual. Her eyes locked onto me from across the room and the corners of her mouth curled into a strange smile.

“Trying to run? Not that easy!”

I hurriedly cut off the video. My heart was pounding fast, my palms soaked with sweat.

How did Susan know where I was? Could she have planted a tracker on me? But I was carrying so many things–where could she have hidden it? I couldn’t possibly be running naked.
