Second Chance - Chapter 08
Chapter 8
With Nathan’s methods, I guessed I would be stopped before I even reached the airport. Even if I called the police, it seemed like there was no solid evidence. This kind of thing was so strange and hard to explain–the police wouldn’t necessarily take it seriously. Then where could I go
now?
Soon, I thought of someone and immediately told the driver to turn around.
When I arrived at Liam Carter’s house, he was already preparing to go to bed. Seeing me suddenly appear, he looked a little surprised.
“Lena, why are you here at this hour?”
“Why do you look so pale? Are you feeling unwell? Come on, I’ll take you to the hospital.”
I didn’t answer him and just kissed him. Liam froze at first, then kissed me back fiercely.
When someone knocked at the door, Liam got up and went to open it.
“Who are you looking for?”
Jessica Grant had indeed found her way here, with Susan Moore behind her.
I stepped out from behind Liam, surprised.
“Jessica, why are you here?”
Seeing me disheveled, Liam quickly took a jacket from the entrance hall and put it on me.
But Jessica still noticed the red marks on my neck and looked furious.
“What… what have you done?!”
“In my own boyfriend’s house, at night–what else could I be doing? Jessica, are you seriously asking?”
Susan, who hadn’t spoken, immediately retorted.
‘She’s lying! She doesn’t even have a boyfriend. This man must be someone she found to
pretend!”
Seeing Jessica’s attitude, Liam frowned slightly and said, “Madam, I don’t think you need to
nvolve yourself in such private matters, do you?”
‘How could I not? She is my son’s chosen one! How dare she do such a thing without our permission!” Jessica snapped.
Susan quickly chimed in to back her up.
‘Yes, she was the one originally supposed to marry Nathan!”
At that moment, Liam noticed the cold sweat on my palms and his expression turned serious.
‘I don’t know when my girlfriend became someone else’s woman, but be careful–I’ll sue you both for slander!”
‘Please leave immediately. Don’t cause trouble here, or don’t blame me for being impolite!”
Susan whispered something in Jessica’s ear, clearly relying on her family’s power. She showed no fear at all.
‘Do you know who I am? Just some small–town cop? Think you can stop me?”
3:31 am GO
“Men, hold this man down! As for Lena, what you said means nothing. Let my son smell her and see if she’s lost her virginity.”
At those words, my heart shook.
Susan looked at me with a twisted smile, as if to say, Lena, you can’t get away now.
A few bodyguards stepped forward quickly, but they underestimated Liam’s ability. In just two seconds, several were knocked to the ground.
Seeing this, Jessica tried to pull me away but was pushed back by Liam.
Unexpectedly, the teddy bear in her arms hit its head and Nathan immediately let out a miserable scream.
The dog’s body still trembled slightly and faint sounds were still audible.
“Go, mom, get out of here…”
“There’s merit in him….and that dress,.. I can’t stand it…”
Liam must have heard it too, because his eyes sharpened immediately.
“Who’s talking?”
In the end, Jessica saw her son trembling, his voice growing weaker and weaker and she couldn’t hold Teddy and leave.
After closing the door, I realized my back was already wet.
Seeing me lean weakly on him, Liam immediately carried me to the bed.
“What’s wrong? Why are you so scared? Did Nathan’s son bully you just
