Jason’s face fell. “That was a joke. Brittany
went too far. Brittany, apologize to Eleanor,
and we’re done.”
Brittany refused. “Why? I did nothing wrong.” Jason warned her coldly. “Brittany, remember who pays you? Too much company loss will hurt you too! Do you still want your BMW?”

Threatened with the car, Brittany reluctantly
apologized. “Sorry. Happy now?”
Jason was generous, even buying her a luxury
car. When I bought a car, he complained for
six months.
“We’re just getting by, and you spend $10,000
on a car! My old scooter is good enough. I
used that scooter when I started my
business!”
I explained that I needed a presentable car for business. He wasn’t satisfied, accusing me of having money but not spending it on him. I
bought him a watch to stop his complaints. The contrast was clear. Who was his true

him, tried to pull me away, when my friend
rushed over.
“Eleanor, where’s the corsage? You’re going

Jason relaxed. “You weren’t getting married! Why didn’t you explain? Oh, you were making me jealous! Let’s forget this, let’s solve the company’s problem.”
I gave the corsage to my friend, pulling away
from Jason’s grasp.
“I’m going to the wedding. You made this mess; solve it yourselves.”
Jason raised an eyebrow. “Is your friend’s wedding more important than the company? Brittany and I apologized, what more do you want?”

His words were hypocritical. If he hadn’t
enabled Brittany, this wouldn’t have
happened.
I ignored him and chatted with my friend.
Brittany was furious.
“Eleanor Evans, I’m still your boss! Is this how
you treat your superior?”
Jason scolded her, then softened, needing my
help. “Fine, I’ll go to the wedding with you.
We’ll handle the project later.”
He was about to change out of his wedding attire.
I couldn’t stand his persistence. “Jason, we’re divorced, and I quit. Don’t bother me with
company matters!”
People stared. He felt uncomfortable.

seriously?”
I laughed. “You let Brittany move in! Was it
