I ignored them. Jason turned away, wiping his
tears.
Colleagues started pleading again.
“Jason is playful, but he and Brittany are innocent. Just ignore it. We’ve been there, be less serious. You can’t let him lose everything and go to jail.”
Their words disgusted me. If this happened to them, they wouldn’t be calm; they’d be out for revenge.
I remained unmoved. Jason lowered his head.

I didn’t turn back. “No need. Be happy with
her. Goodbye… no, see you never.”
Ignoring Jason’s pleas, I left for the airport, boarding my flight abroad.
Once settled, I saw a message from a
colleague.
The company had gone bankrupt. Jason,
unable to pay his debts, had his assets frozen
and was in jail. Brittany had to return
everything she’d received from Jason.
I closed my phone, got up, and went to work.
A new day began.
