How much do they give you for your allowance 

Lucy smirked triumphantly. They give me 2000 dollars every week! 

I checked my phone, where my mother had transferred my weekly allowance – only 500 dollars. 

I thought that 500 dollars a week was already a lot. It turned out that Lucy’s was four times 

mine. 

Moreover, they had given it to her secretly to soothe her feelings. 

Biases could be tolerated, but not when it came to money. 

So, when I received my allowance the following week, I asked curiously, Huh Mom, why did you only give me 500 dollars Lucy said she gets 2000 dollars every week. I thought you would give us equal allowances. 

My mother awkwardly laughed, Kay, I was just worried that you would spend rashly if given that much money all at once… 

After saying this, she sent me the rest of the money, including the 1500 dollars from last week. 

I smiled and said, Thank you, Mom. I thought you preferred Lucy and didn’t like me, so that’s why you were unfair to me. Turns out, that’s not the case at all! 

Mom continuously reassured me that she treated both of us equally. 

With a light smile, I just let it be. 

In their minds, Lucy, having been pampered since childhood, should naturally spend more. To me, who was used to being poor, 500 was already a large amount of money.

I studied hard, improving my exam ranks each time. 

And Lucy tried to win over our parents‘ love, attempting to drive me away.
