Chapter 5 Will You Be With Me 

Frederic wrapped his arm around me as we walked out of the room. 

When we reached the dining table, I was a little surprised. 

Every dish on the table was something I loved to eat. 

I suddenly realized that in the past few days, there hadn’t been a single dish I didn’t enjoy. 

I wanted to ask something but then hesitated, wondering if I was overthinking things. 

Frederic, however, served me some food and said, I’m not the type to do something good and not take credit. I want you to understand that all of this was specially prepared for you. 

“I know you like these dishes, and I also know you don’t like carrots… 

“Your favorite color is light green. 

“I know you like big dogs…” 

Hearing the first few things, I thought maybe Ophelia had told him. 

But when he mentioned me liking dogs, I was taken aback. No

My mom was allergic to dog hair so that we couldn’t have peis at home. 

Ophelia had been bitten by a dog once, and she hated them, too. 

I’d once casually mentioned wanting a dog to Kendrick, but he had been impatient and said, “If you have the energy to take care of a dog, you might as well spend more time dealing with your network.” 

Perhaps he saw the confusion on my face because Frederic cleared his throat awkwardly. “Ahem, I saw you walking your dog outside your apartment once.” 

He seemed to remember something and chuckled, “You looked petite next to your dog. I’ve seen you couldn’t hold back that Alaskan Malamute, and it knocked you over.” 

My face flushed red. I hadn’t expected him to have seen that embarrassing moment. 

I couldn’t help but pinch his ear. “How can you laugh at me?” 

He grabbed my hand, kissed it, and said, “How about we raise a dog together?” 

He looked at me with those steady eyes, waiting for my answer. 

I smiled and nodded.

Seeing that I remained unmoved, my mom switched tactics, trying to appeal to my emotions.

But I knew the whole reason they were in a pickle was because they’d been leaning on others too much. 

I couldn’t believe they were so naive, thinking that marrying me off would fix everything. 

I sighed softly and promised I would return soon. 

Frederic took my hand and gently smoothed my furrowed brow. 

“Don’t sigh. I’ll always be here for you.” 

The tears that had welled up after my mom’s scolding were quickly suppressed. 

I leaned against Frederic’s chest, suddenly feeling like I wasn’t alone in this world. 

The next day, Frederic and I flew back to Aetheria. 

As soon as we stepped off the plane, we saw my parents waiting at the airport. 

My mom was a mix of worry and anger when she saw me. She opened her mouth to say something but was immediately stopped by my dad. 

She turned to scold him, but then she saw him step forward.
