Chapter 4 

The assistant’s eyes turned red with tears and he smashed the bag. 

“Madam, I will take you to another city for transfer now. You must hold on.” 

I kept wailing, my vision went dark, and I finally passed out. 

I woke up again, being suddenly awakened by a bucket of ice–cold water. 

In front of him was Lucas’s face full of disgust. 

“Stop pretending now that you’re awake.” He looked down at me. “You knew I was going to announce the matter between the heir and Scarlett tomorrow, but you still went to the next city to see a doctor. Did you want everyone to think Scarlett was bullying you?” 

Scarlett held the baby in her arms, tears streaming down her face, and stood behind him, looking pitiful. 

“Madam, I know you hate me. But you can just take revenge on me, but why did you let your mother–in–law take my child away?” 

“Before the assistant was dragged away, she was still shouting that my mother–in–law had to gc back to deal with the documents and give my child to you, saying that I was not worthy of being the mother of the heir…” 

I opened my mouth, but no words came out of my throat. I could only shake my head with all my strength and beg tremblingly: 

“I…didn’t…take me to the hospital…the child…can’t hold on any longer…” 

“You lied again!” Lucas frowned impatiently, “My mother was anxious to leave the hospital and even brought a lawyer to work overtime overnight. Wasn’t it you who instigated her behind the scenes? Do you think that by taking Scarlett’s child, you can secure your position as the mother 

of the heir?” 

“Didn’t you give birth to your child yesterday? And you’re still pretending to be in labor and dying Are you trying to trick me into feeling sorry for you? Dream on!” 

I felt severe pain all over my body. The blood in my lower body had already coagulated and was sticking to my skin, emitting a strong fishy stench. 

Scarlett covered her mouth and vomited, tears welling up in her eyes: “Sister, you knew that couldn’t stand the smell of blood after giving birth, but you still refused to clean it. You wanted tc deliberately fumigate me and make me faint, right?” 

She cried so much that her face turned pale, and she curled up in Lucas‘ arms, looking pitiful. 

“Look at what you look like now!” Lucas said with disgust, “You look like a lunatic, and you stink. You are such a disgrace!” 

He waved his hand and ordered the bodyguards to continue pouring buckets of cold water on me. He did not stop until I turned pale, shivered all over, and became completely hypothermic. Scarlett nestled in his arms and cried, begging, “Madam, I beg you, don’t separate me from my child… If you insist on taking my son away, I will jump out of this window!” 

She pretended to jump, and Lucas quickly hugged her.

Finally, he was so angry that he turned around and kicked away my hand that was holding his trouser leg, leaned over and shouted coldly: 

“Don’t think you can continue to be the mother of the heir by instigating my mother. I have already sent people to lock down Havenwood Estate. No matter how you plan, you won’t 

succeed!” 

“As for you – I have warned you so many times not to bully Scarlett and her child, but you just won’t listen! In this case, I can only use some special means.” 

He turned his head suddenly and gave a cold order to the bodyguard: 

“She forced Scarlett to jump off the building, so she should pay the price. Go, pull out her father’s oxygen tube and throw him off the building!” 

“Lucas!” I screamed, “You’re crazy! That’s my dad! He saved your life!!” 

“So what!” Lucas sneered, “In order to get you into a wealthy family and make your child the future heir of Monarch Group, he went to great lengths to save me, and forced me to marry you because of his life–saving grace. Now you’ve married into a wealthy family, and I’ve made you pregnant. You can’t give birth to my first child, that’s because you’re useless. I’ve already repaid you my debt of gratitude, and I don’t owe you anything!”
