Goodbye Was Just the Beginning - Chapter 11
“Indeed, Ru.” Evan gazed intensely at me before clinking glasses with me.
I had just sipped my peppery wine and sat down when Sandra tugged at my sleeve. She wiggled her eyebrows at me and said, “Something’s off about you two.”
“Wh-What’s off?”
“Hot Stuff over there hasn’t stopped staring at you since he entered this room.”
“You must be mistaken, Sandra.”
“You don’t have to worry about me being mistaken. I was born with exceptionally sharp senses. I can tell right away if there is any unusual closeness between a man and a woman.”
I couldn’t help but purse my lips. My heart thrummed with fervor beneath my chest.
After graduating from university, I returned to Pinehelm City with Jonathan and never saw Evan again. Apart from the occasional holiday or birthday wishes on social media, Evan and I had no more contact with each other.
That was until Jonathan began proudly and loudly courting Evelyn not long ago.
Evan suddenly contacted me around that time. Still, we only spoke a few times on the phone. Today was our first time meeting since I agreed to marry him.
We hadn’t even held hands, yet Sandra was already making it sound like he and I had already slept with each other.
“Oh, right, Evan Do you have a girlfriend? I have a distant cousin who’s really pretty. How about 1 introduce you to her?” asked one of our female classmates.
The atmosphere became more lively because of her sudden suggestion.
Sandra refused to accept defeat. She chimed in, “Say, Evan! Why don’t you consider dating Ru if you’re still single?”
“She’s pretty, well–mannered, and has a hot body! She also graduated from a respectable institution like you. You’d make a perfect match. Don’t you agree?”
I was nervous and flustered. Even my cheeks turned as red as a tomato.
Evan’s deep voice rang out amidst our classmates‘ laughter. “Alright, Sandra. Quit teasing Ru. She’s tumid, so stop poking fun at her.“”
Sandra stuck her tongue out at him “oh” Is Evan worried about his junior?”
Evan chuckled. He didn’t respond, but he didn’t deny her claim either
I peered at him and soon realized he was also looking at me. Heat crept up my face as I lowered my head at once.
That was when I received a text
“I’ll drive you back to your place.”
I didn’t reply after that. All I could focus on was how fast my heart raced.
