Ransom

Six years ago, my husband and I were traveling abroad when we were kidnapped.

Our family only had enough money to pay for one of us.

For Gideon’s sake, I chose to stay behind and let him return home.

Later, a powerful man paid my ransom. In return, I worked under him for six years and eventually became his most trusted aide.

His words were so cruel and heartless and it made me laugh in disbelief.
