The press conference was set for two in the afternoon. 

I changed into a sharp white suit and sat in front of the mirror, looking at the cold-eyed woman staring back at me. 

Mina stood beside me, organizing the documents. Her hands kept trembling. 

“Ms. Rowan, are we really going public with this? This will destroy Mr. Hale.” 

I took the lipstick from her and applied it carefully. 

“He drew first blood. I gave him a lifeline, and he chose to throw it back in my face.” 

Just as we were about to leave, Bennett appeared. 

“Claire, stop. You can’t do this.” 

I stepped aside before he could come closer and looked at him coldly. 

“Mr. Hale, this is the London branch. You have no right to give me orders here.” 

Panic filled Bennett’s eyes. He lowered his voice, the arrogance completely draining from his 

posture. 

“Claire, I know I was wrong. I shouldn’t have sent people downstairs to cause a scene. I was desperate.” 

“Just drop the charges. Let’s sit down and talk this through, okay?” 

I looked at how disheveled he was and felt no pity at all. 

“Talk about what? How you whispered sweet promises to me while getting a marriage license with 

Tessa?” 

“Or how you used everything I built to impress a woman whose only skill is crying on cue?” 

Bennett opened his mouth, his face turning pale. 

“I did it for the company. The Vale family’s connections could catapult us to the next level.” 

“You’re the only one in my heart. You know how I treated you these past seven years.” 

I let out a cold laugh and pointed toward the elevator. 

“The way you treated me was by using me like a convenient tool, then shipping me overseas to fend 

for myself once you were done.”

Just then, his phone buzzed. 

The screen lit up with Tessa’s name, and a flicker of instinctual hesitation crossed his eyes. 

“See? Your new wife is waiting for you. You should go back to her, Mr. Hale.” 

Bennett declined the call, and his gaze turned dark. 

“Claire, do you think you’ve already won?” 

“I’ve had people quietly buying up Walter’s shares. Once I have control, you won’t last long as 

branch CEO.” 

I froze for a second, then burst into a bitter, mocking laugh. 

“Bennett, you really are still that arrogant.” 

“Why do you think Walter stood with me in the first place?” 

I pulled a document from my bag and threw it against his chest. 

“Walter transferred all of his voting rights to me long ago. At this branch, you don’t control a single 

penny’s worth of power.” 

Bennett opened the document with shaking hands. His face went from ashen to a deathly, hollow 

gray.

I walked past him and headed for the elevator 

“From the day I first heard you talking to Tessa outside the break room”

When I reached the lobby downstairs, camera flashes exploded around me.
