Chapter 10 Family Reputation
Lady Flourish’s POV
I took a deep breath and turned to face him.

“Damian, thank you but I really think I can manage,” I bit out, annoyed at how small my voice had gotten.
Damian tilted his head, staring at me intently. “And how exactly do you plan to do that?”
I pushed off the car and turned to face him, my eyes glowing bright yellow as I let my wolf come to the surface. “I can run.”
For a split second, Damian allowed his wolf rush to the surface, as if in response to mine. The energy was so powerful that I took a step back, gasping softly.
Then he suppressed it, looking at me with a lazy smile on his lips. “You really are one heck of a she–wolf.”
I snorted, half smiling from his remark. Then I turned to my driver. “I’ll be expecting the car at the villa in the morning. No excuses.”
He nodded frantically. “Yes, Lady Flourish.”
I turned to Damian, who had his eyes glued to me like I was about to disappear any moment from now. I ignored how my pulse kicked when I met his eyes, and turned to shift. “Goodnight, Alpha Damian.”
With that, I allowed my wolf to come to the surface. I had light brown fur, was quite large for my age, and my claws fully extended to the surface.
When I looked at Damian for the last time, his expression had turned very serious. I could feel his wolf a lot easier in my current form, howling at me and warning me not to go. But Damian himself remained silent, like he wanted to allow me do what I wanted.
I let out a loud howl, and took off onto the road.
The wind was cold, but my wolf preferred it in this state. I allowed my instinct take over, feeling the breeze in my fur until I got to my cliff side residence.
I waited until I was inside before I shifted back, discarding my ripped dress as I walked naked into the kitchen.
I reached for a glass of water, and caught my reflection in the window.

A scoff escaped my lips as thoughts of the past began to brew in my head. Lady Flourish, the only she–wolf tech mogul in all of Stonehedge.
I was the one who advanced technology in our territory, years ago, who built the largest tech complex across six territories, and currently controlled half of the shares in the world.
My company hadn’t been a major part of my life since I got betrothed to Harold, but I didn’t let it turn to dust either.
Maybe Harold had forgotten just who I was.
I walked upstairs and ran a bath, finally allowing myself to relax. The warm water soaked into my skin, and before long, I felt sleepy.
My phone chimed loudly, breaking the silence.
I glanced at it, seeing a notification from Harold.
“Where are you?”
I laughed softly and typed back. “How is that your concern?”
Three dots appeared immediately, then; “Have you lost your mind Flourish? First you severed our mind link, now you’re going off to secret places I don’t know about?”
My amusement quickly turned to irritation, and I turned off the phone and settled further into the water.
He had ruined my night enough. He wouldn’t ruin my sleep too.
The next morning, I stood outside my residence as my driver pulled my car into the parking lot.
He walked over and handed me the key, bowing slightly. “Your car, Lady Flourish.”
I took it from him. “Thank you. Go and wash up, we have a few visits to make today.”
He hesitated slightly, but the pointed look I gave him was enough to make him scramble to his quarters.
An hour later, I was on the road to my company’s main building when I received a mind link from my father.
“Flourish.”
I shut my eyes slowly, forcing the resentment that had spent years building against him and answered. “Yes, Alpha.”

My father, Alpha Garret, was one of the most difficult wolves I’d ever come across. After mother died, he became cold and distant towards me, and stopped me from calling him father.
“You will refer to me as Alpha from now on. Anything else, and you get the silver,” he’d said that night, before locking me in my room the way he’d usually done once I was home from school.
Painful memories resurfaced again, but I took a deep breath and stayed strong.
“Why didn’t you go home with Harold last night?” He continued through the mind link.
“Am I really in the position to answer that? You weren’t present at the banquet, otherwise my humiliation would have been clear,” I retorted.
“That is irrelevant. He is your mate and your Alpha. You are to respect him and our pack no matter what,” he said.
I slammed my fist against the door handle. My driver, Walter, flinched behind the steering wheel. “Lady Flourish, are you okay?”
“I’m fine, Walter. Keep driving.”
He nodded and faced the road.
I returned to the mind link. “Is it until I am split into a thousand pieces before you all realize that I am not a lifeless object that can just be tossed around for your own satisfaction?”
“Flourish. You will not speak to me that way. Invite Harold to the villa this evening. You will give him an apology in front of all of us.”
I scoffed. “I will do no such thing.”
There was a brief silence on his end.
“Defiant now, aren’t we? Don’t forget who your father is. 6pm, the villa. I will be expecting you.”
The mind link was cut off.
My knees bounced against the leather seat, my teeth grinding against each other.
Always the pack reputation.
Always what people will think of my family.
Always one thing or the other that I was responsible for protecting.
What about what I felt?

What about the way their actions affected me?
I fought the sting that threatened to spill behind my eyes.
“Lady Flourish, we’ve arrived,” Walter’s voice rang out.
I nodded and stepped out of the car, facing my company’s building.
A sprawling blue skyscraper, with the letter F boldly placed at the top. Workers moved in and out, scrambling to get tasks done, or at least, they were pretending to.
I looked around, a sense of fulfillment filling my chest.
I built this.
All of it.
I took a step forward towards the main building, when a deep, rich scent made me stop in my tracks.
What?
That’s not possible.
I turned my head instinctively, and locked eyes with a pair of dark green eyes, leaning against a black car.
