I stared at her. For several seconds, nobody spoke. Damian sent for Rhys and Callum, and Sera came back with them. Then I turned to Maelin.
“What sister?”
She glanced at Damian before returning her attention to me. “The second vessel.”
“I know the title. I want the truth.”
Her face tightened. “The child was publicly declared dead.”
“Publicly?”
“Yes. The announcement went out across the allied packs. We were told she had died because her existence threatened the bloodline.”
I shook my head. “Where is her body?”
“There wasn’t one.”
The words came quietly, but they changed the room.
“You declared a child dead without a body?”
“We were never shown one.”
“Who gave you the story?”
“The Stonehedge elders.”
I looked at Callum. He had gone very still. “You knew?”
He rubbed a hand over his jaw. “I knew there was another child. I was told she had been taken somewhere safe.”
“By whom?”
“Garret.”
My stomach dropped. “Garret told you my sister was alive?”
“He didn’t say she was alive. He said she had been moved. I assumed the elders knew more than

I did.”
“That isn’t what you told us before.”
“I never knew enough to tell you.”

Anger rose fast, but I forced myself to breathe. “You all knew there was another child, and I was the only one who didn’t.”
Callum looked away.
Maelin stepped forward. “Your family said the second vessel couldn’t remain near you. They believed the bloodline would become unstable if both children were raised together.”
“Who believed that?”
“Your elders, the people who controlled Stonehedge then.”
“And they decided she was dead?”
“They decided that was the safest story.”
I stared at the table. The bloodline records had already suggested that someone had erased my sister from my childhood.
Now I was hearing that her death had been announced without proof. I didn’t believe it.
“Tell me what the announcement said.”
Maelin hesitated. “That the second child was born with an unstable blood connection. It claimed she could affect the wolves around her and that keeping her alive would put the allied packs at risk.”
“That sounds convenient.”
“It was.”
“You never believed it?”
“Some did. I did not.”
“Then why obey?”
“Because the First Alpha council threatened to cut every pack off from the protection network if we refused.”
I looked at Damian. “So they used the network to force obedience.”

“That’s why we stopped answering its calls,” Maelin said. “We wanted no part in that control.”
“Rhys.”
He was already reaching for his tablet.
“Search every old transport record connected to Stonehedge. Medical transfers, private vehicles, pack escorts, everything. Go back as far as the archive allows.”
Rhys nodded and moved to the adjoining station. Damian came to stand beside me. “Flourish.”
“I need facts.”
“I know.”
The room was quiet except for the tapping of Rhys’s fingers. Maelin continued. “After the announcement, the allied packs were told not to ask questions. Those who did were told the second vessel had been removed because her presence could draw enemies to the bloodline.”
“Which enemies?”
“Voss was already interested in your family. There were others.”
I turned back to Callum. “And you believed she was somewhere safe?”
“I believed Garret had arranged it.”
“Did you ever ask where?”
“No.” The answer came too quickly. I gave him a hard look. “I should have.”
“Yes.”
Rhys stopped typing. “I found something.”
He put the record on the main screen. “It took three archive layers to uncover. The original file was removed from the active Stonehedge system, but a transport copy remained in an old F- Tech backup.”
A document appeared.
“What year?” Damian asked.
Rhys read the date. “It matches the period when the second vessel was declared dead.”
The record listed a child under a false identity, with no bloodline designation and no family

“Who authorized the transfer?”
Rhys enlarged the signature. “Stonehedge medical administration. But the escort was private.”
“Destination?”
He opened the attached route, and the room went silent. “Hollow Ridge.”
Sera’s face changed. “That can’t be right.”
“Why?” Rhys asked.
“Our outer settlement disappeared years ago. We believed it was abandoned after a border attack.”
Damian’s expression hardened. “Like Grey Ridge.”
“Different territory,” Rhys said. “Same region.” He studied the route. “The destination was a protected household inside the settlement.”
I looked at Damian. “Could Grey Ridge have been protecting her?”
“The people we found there were kept alive, and their attackers kept asking about the First Alpha’s daughter.”
My throat tightened. The Grey Ridge survivors had called her the missing heir. Their attackers hadn’t been searching for a dead child. They had been searching for someone.
“Maybe they found her,” I said.
“Or they knew where she was,” Damian replied.
Rhys kept working. “I’m checking everything linked to the settlement. Household records, old security logs, camera backups.”
Maelin moved closer to the screen. “If the child survived, the old announcement was a lie.”
“You said your pack stopped answering because of my sister,” I said. “Then someone wanted you to believe she was dangerous.”
Maelin didn’t deny it. My wolf stirred. They lied.
“What if they didn’t only hide her?”
Nobody answered.

Rhys’s screen changed. “I found a recent security file.”
Damian moved closer. “From where?”
“The settlement. The system was damaged, but one camera uploaded an image before it went offline.”
He opened it. It showed the inside of a house. A woman stood near the window, turned slightly away from the camera, but her face was clear enough.
I stopped breathing. Damian’s hand closed around mine.
Callum stepped closer. “No.”
I couldn’t move. The woman in the photograph had my face. The same eyes, the same mouth, the same features I had seen in my own mirror for years.
“The timestamp is recent,” Rhys said.
My wolf finally spoke. She looks like us.
I could barely hear her.
I looked at the woman on the screen again. She wasn’t dead. She was somewhere inside that settlement, and someone had been protecting her until recently.
