Power entered the room with Alpha Damian Virel, and every wolf around the table reacted. Several backs straightened as his scent spread through the room, carrying the dominance of an older Alpha.
Moon Goddess.
Damian looked unfairly good in a dark suit that fit his broad frame. His hair was pushed away from his face, exposing sharp features and dark eyes that moved across the room with the calm control of someone accustomed to being obeyed.
My wolf pressed forward.
I pushed her back immediately.
Traitor.
Damian surveyed the room before his gaze settled briefly on Rhys, then me.
He gave me a small nod, and I straightened without meaning to.
“Good evening, everyone.”
His voice was calm, but the room responded immediately.
Several executives stood.
“Alpha Damian.”
“It’s an honor.”
“We weren’t expecting you personally.”
Damian lifted one hand.
Silence followed.
“I’m sorry for keeping everyone waiting,” he said, adjusting the cuff of his sleeve. “How far have we gotten?”
One of the senior executives smiled quickly. “We’ve covered most of the preliminary discussions. Lady Flourish presented F-Tech’s proposal, and we’ve discussed several expansion opportunities.”

Damian started toward the table.
My wolf was far more interested in Damian than she should have been.
He stopped beside my chair. His gaze dropped to the empty seat next to mine, then returned to my face.

When I presented our projected growth figures, Damian listened without checking his phone.

One older executive eventually cleared his throat.

“Do you happen to know Alpha Damian from somewhere else?”
I understood the implication immediately.

A waiter stepped forward immediately.

“Moonberry nectar.”
The waiter blinked. Rhys blinked. I stared at Damian.
He looked completely serious.
Within minutes, every wine glass on the table had been replaced with chilled moonberry

I took a cautious sip.

I looked away.
The rest of dinner moved faster. The board discussed operational control, projected revenue and expansion territories, while Rhys handled questions directed at F-Tech.
When an executive questioned whether my upcoming Luna Rite could affect my position as CEO, I answered before Rhys could.

He looked toward the entrance, then back at me.
“It will be difficult finding another driver this late.”
“I’ll manage.”
“No, you won’t.”
I almost argued simply because he had decided for me.
The executives nearby suddenly became very interested in their phones.
Damian lowered his voice.
“I can take you home. It’s not much of a hassle.”
My heart gave one hard beat.
In front of everyone?
Before I could answer, Rhys stepped in.
“I’m heading in the same direction as Lady Flourish. I can take her home.”
Damian finally looked at him.
“You’ve been drinking.”
“I barely-”
“You’re in no condition to drive.”
Rhys closed his mouth.
Damian held his gaze for another second.
“Find a driver.”
Rhys raised both hands. “Yes, Alpha.”
I stared at him.

Damian turned back to me.

My wolf reacted before I could, pushing toward his presence. I clenched my fingers around my phone.
I was not his subordinate, but Walter still wasn’t answering.
A few minutes later, I found myself following Alpha Damian Virel toward the exit while half the executive board watched us.
My wolf remained unusually alert as we reached the elevator.
The doors opened.
Damian stepped inside.
I followed.
The doors closed, cutting us off from the executives. We were alone.
I released a breath and leaned against the wall.
Damian glanced at me. “You’re quiet.”
“I’m tired.”
His eyes moved over my face. “You’ve had too much alcohol.”
“I know.”
“And your wolf is unsettled.”
I straightened. “How would you know?”
He didn’t answer immediately. His gaze dropped to my hands.
I realized I had been gripping my phone so tightly that my knuckles had turned pale.
Then his eyes returned to mine.
“Because I can smell her.”
My stomach tightened.
The elevator continued descending.
