The head of security immediately stepped forward to report.
“General, these two were the only ones present in the western part of the garden when the incident occurred. We apprehended them immediately upon our arrival.”
Before he finished, a nanny rushed out from behind the crowd, crying and pointing at Isabella.
“It was her! The young master was playing with his drone by the lake and accidentally bumped into this young lady. The child was about to apologize when she just shoved him into the water!”
Isabella trembled all over, her face instantly turning ashen.
She frantically scanned the crowd, her gaze finally locking onto James, and she screamed with a tearful
voice,
“It was my brother! My brother pushed him because the kid was in the way! I couldn’t stop him!”
“What did you say?” James’s head jerked up. His restrained body struggled violently as he stared at her in disbelief, his eyes filled with shock and betrayal.
“Isabella! You’re lying! It was clearly you…”
“James!” Isabella cut him off sharply, tears streaming down her face. “It was you! You just said this child had no manners and was in your way! How can you deny it now?”
James looked at her distorted expression, his mouth opening and closing without a sound.
He closed his eyes and said in a low voice, “It wasn’t me. I ran over when I heard the cries for help.”

My parents stumbled forward, almost falling to their knees before the General.
“General, please, you must see reason! Our children would never do such a thing! There must be some
misunderstanding! How could Bella and James dare harm General Clark’s grandson!?”
Mrs. Clark’s face was dark with fury. Just as she was about to speak, a guard came forward holding a clear evidence bag.
“General, this was found clutched in the young master’s hand. It’s a button.”
Inside the bag was an exquisite pearl button, an exact match to the one on Isabella’s dress that day, down to
the unique spiral pattern.
My parents spun around, staring at Isabella in disbelief.
“You… you actually framed your own brother? James has always given you everything! How could you be so
vicious?!”
Isabella collapsed to the ground, staring at the button, her lips trembling, unable to utter another word.
The General’s expression was stormy. He said coldly, “Isabella Caldwell intentionally endangered a child. The
nature of this act is egregious. Transfer her immediately to the authorities for processing according to the
law! General Caldwell is suspended pending review for his failure to properly guide his daughter!”
Isabella cried and struggled. “General, I was wrong! I didn’t know he was General Clark’s grandson… I really
didn’t know!”
The moment the disciplinary action was announced, my father slumped onto a bench, his face the color of
ashes.
James stood rigid, as if his soul had been ripped out, his eyes vacant, staring at the ground.
A moment later, he slowly lifted his head, his gaze cutting through the crowd to land directly on me.
I met his eyes for only a second before looking away.
This was a lesson best understood when the knife wound was in your own flesh.
As I turned to leave, James suddenly let out a crazed laugh.
He laughed and laughed until tears streamed down his face.
“Karma… this is all karma…”
The car wheels began to roll, carrying us onto the airport expressway.
