Chapter 11 

Looking at Sylvie Sutton’s gentle face, Nova Donald casually accepted the towel from her hands. She had been sweating profusely, so Sylvie’s towel was quickly soaked through. 

Smiling, Nova handed the damp towel back to Sylvie. 

Repulsed, Sylvie froze before she could take it. Nova tilted her head. ‘Sylvie, what’s wrong? You’re not disgusted by me, are you?” 

Sylvie cared about her image in the classroom more than anything else. Forcing a smile, she swallowed her revulsion and took the towel. “How could I be? We’re best friends. I’d never be disgusted by you…” 

‘That’s good.” 

Nova smiled at her, radiating a newfound confidence that the old Nova never possessed. 

Sylvie looked slightly stunned. 

She couldn’t pinpoint exactly what had changed, but Nova was undeniably 

different. 

Although she was still relatively unsmiling and didn’t mingle much with their classmates, the aura she projected was entirely unlike before. 

Nova returned to her seat.

Sylvie followed suit, sitting at her own desk right next to Nova. Seeing Nova gulping down water, Sylvie pulled a box of chocolates from her desk and offered it. “Nova, my dad brought these chocolates back from his trip. You definitely haven’t tried them yet. I remember you used to love chocolate, so you can have the whole box.” 

Staring at the box in Sylvie’s hand, Nova sneered inwardly. 

When she was younger, she had been insecure, but she was never particularly overweight. By the time she started high school, she was

already five-foot-five. Yet, somehow, her weight had inexplicably Jallooned from one hundred forty pounds to nearly two hundred. 

At the time, she assumed it was due to stress, but she later realized something was deeply wrong. 

The timeline of her sudden weight gain perfectly coincided with the moment she met Sylvie Sutton. 

In her past life, she had specifically consulted a doctor about it. She earned that unless a teenage girl was gorging herself recklessly, she wouldn’t gain sixty pounds in such a short period-unless she was ngesting hormones that caused rapid weight gain. 

Factoring in her actual appetite and exercise levels during high school, Nova was absolutely certain. 

Aside from tempting her with junk food, Sylvie had likely laced the treats with something to sabotage her diet. 

‘Don’t be polite with me. I know you’ve been working so hard on your diet, so one little piece won’t hurt.” 

As she spoke, Sylvie shoved the box directly into Nova’s hands. To her surprise, Nova let out a startled gasp, and the expensive box of chocolates clattered loudly to the floor. 

The noise echoed through the classroom. 

Mrs. Gable, who was already at the podium teaching, pushed her glasses 

up her nose. “What is going on? Nova, Sylvie, stand up!” 

Being called out made Sylvie bite her lip, completely mortified. 

She had always been the school’s golden girl. This was the first time a teacher had ever reprimanded her. 

Mrs. Gable was known for being the strictest teacher on staff. She marched over and glared at the chocolates scattered across the floor.

“I’m sorry, Mrs. Gable, it’s my fault. Sylvie saw that I was starving after my run and kindly offered me some chocolate. I was clumsy and 

accidentally dropped it,” Nova spoke up first, taking all the blame. 

“Running? Nova, are you trying to lose weight?” 

Nova nodded. 

Mrs. Gable was an adult, after all. She shot Sylvie a knowing look, as if seeing right through her little scheme. “We are in the middle of a lesson! Instead of paying attention, you’re passing out candy? I am confiscating these chocolates.”
