Mr. Donald, Mrs. Donald, and Nova stepped out of the lead vehicle. Immediately, two more cars pulled up behind them. 

The Donald family’s bodyguards and legal team swarmed out in full force. 

Mrs. Langdon had never faced down such an intimidating lineup, and for a moment, she stood completely paralyzed. 

“Mr… Mr. Donald, Mrs. Donald, you…” 

“Don’t you dare address me!” 

Mrs. Donald rushed straight to Alaric, gently pulling him away from his abusers. Seeing the bloody scratches running down his face, she flared with fury. “Mrs. Langdon, you are entirely too cruel!” 

The formal use of ‘Mrs. Langdon’ instantly drew an icy boundary between their families. 

The fake smile vanished from Mrs. Langdon’s face. All she could manage was a weak defense. “Mr. Donald, Mrs. Donald, this boy attacked Caleb at school today. I was just so furious that I had to teach him a little lesson…” 

“Just so furious that you taught him a little lesson? You locked Alaric out, leaving a child to freeze outside all night. Was that also just teaching him a little lesson?” 

Mrs. Donald glared at her and stated fiercely, “As far as I’m concerned, you are completely unfit to raise him. Hand Alaric’s guardianship over to us!” 

“What?” 

Before Mrs. Langdon could react, a lawyer stepped forward, handing her a stack of legal documents. “Mrs. Langdon, your actions constitute child abuse under the law. If you want to avoid us pressing charges, I highly advise you to hand him over quietly.” 

As Mrs. Langdon stood in stunned silence, Caleb immediately stepped up. “Mom! If they want to raise the bastard, let them! It’ll save us an extra mouth to feed!” 

But Mrs. Langdon stared at the documents, proving she wasn’t quite as brainless as her son. “If I give this child to you, what’s in it for me? He is still my husband’s illegitimate son, after all. I can’t just hand him over to you for free, can I?” 

Hearing her demand, Nova couldn’t help but let out a cold scoff. 

That was Mrs. Langdon through and through-always trying to extort a payout, no matter the 

situation. 

Seeing that her father was about to offer a financial concession, Nova quickly cut in. “Mrs. Langdon, you severely abused Alaric. If word of this gets out in our social circle, it will utterly

destroy your family’s reputation. We are doing you a massive favor by taking him off your hands, and yet you have the audacity to demand a payout? We aren’t giving you a single cent. If you refuse, we’ll see you in court. By the time the police are involved, given your actions, you’ll likely be facing prison time. Once you’re behind bars, my family will simply adopt Alaric anyway.” 

At Nova’s threat, all the color drained from Mrs. Langdon’s face. 

“Mom, just sign it! I don’t want to look at this little bastard’s face anymore anyway!” 

Caleb had always wanted Alaric gone. Now that the perfect opportunity had dropped into their laps, he couldn’t wait to throw the dead weight out of their house. 

Deep down, Mrs. Langdon felt the same way, but giving him up without squeezing any money out of the deal left a bitter taste in her mouth. 

Watching her hesitate, Nova turned away. “Mom, Dad, stop trying to be the nice guys here. We tried to help her out of respect for our past ties, but since she doesn’t appreciate it, we’ll head straight to the police station. Don’t waste your breath.” 

Seeing that Nova was literally turning back to the car, Mrs. Langdon panicked. “I’ll sign! I’ll sign!” 

She hastily snatched the pen and, without even bothering to read the terms, scribbled her signature onto the legal documents. 

Watching from a few steps away, Nova’s lips curled into a faint, victorious smile. 

“Take him and go, but absolutely do not call the cops!” 

Mrs. Langdon valued her pristine social image above all else. If the Donalds dragged her name through the mud, high society would label her a venomous monster forever.
