Faced with Nova’s sharp retort, Caleb scoffed coldly. “Nova, drop the spoiled heiress act. I know you look down on us and think we’re marrying up! If you don’t want this engagement, just say it!” 

‘Caleb! What is wrong with you? Stop talking nonsense!” 

Mrs. Langdon furiously swatted at her son’s arm. 

Their family was on the verge of ruin. If they lost the Donald family’s backing, how were the two of them supposed to rebuild their empire? 

If the company went bankrupt, they’d likely lose the roof over their heads! 

‘Mom, don’t try to stop me! I’m just telling the truth!” 

Caleb made zero effort to hide his absolute disgust. 

Predictably, the color completely drained from Mr. and Mrs. Donald’s faces. 

f they had been maintaining basic social politeness moments ago, the atmosphere in the room was now dead silent. 

So this was how Caleb actually viewed their daughter! 

Nova had always been gentle and sweet. She had never thrown her weight around or acted like a snob. She had dedicated herself entirely to Caleb and his family, perfectly willing to marry a man beneath her station. She had never once spoken a single bad word about the Langdons. 

Yet here Caleb was, openly humiliating their daughter right to their faces! 

Mr. Donald’s voice was like ice. “It seems your son has no interest in marrying my daughter. In that case, let’s call off the engagement right 

now!” 

“Mr. Donald, Caleb is just being immature. Please don’t be angry. I’ll make sure he apologizes properly. Besides… Nova has always adored Caleb,

hasn’t she? The kids are probably just having a little fight. Isn’t that right, Nova?” 

Mrs. Langdon looked at Nova in total panic. Nova simply met her gaze and spoke with perfect calm. 

‘Mrs. Langdon, you’re mistaken. Caleb and I just grew up together, that’s all. Out by the entrance, Caleb made his feelings very clear. He told me ne doesn’t like me and will never marry me. I feel exactly the same way. So, I came here tonight to officially tell you. I want to break the 

engagement!” 

‘What?” 

Hearing those words, Mrs. Langdon froze completely. Caleb stood there, utterly stunned. 

Nova had spent years obsessing over him, doing everything in her power ust to get his attention. He knew all of that. How could she suddenly agree to call off the wedding? 

Mr. and Mrs. Donald were equally shocked. 

Their daughter had always been incredibly stubborn. They had spent years trying to talk her out of marrying into the Langdon family, but she had always refused to listen. Why the sudden change of heart? 

‘Mrs. Langdon, we’ll be skipping dinner tonight. Moving forward, I think t’s best if our families keep our distance.” 

With that, Nova stood up, walked over to her parents, and said, “Mom, Dad. Let’s go.” 

Looking at her parents sitting right in front of her, Nova felt a lump form in her throat. 

In her past life, it was her blind stubbornness that had doomed them. She had insisted on marrying Caleb, only to watch him systematically destroy her family out of pure spite.

Simply put, Caleb was an absolute monster. In her past life, her parents had bent over backwards to keep his family afloat. But the second he secured his power and solidified his status, the very first company he targeted was The Donald Group. 

Because of his massive, fragile ego, Caleb always felt that her parents allowing her to marry him when he was poor was a profound insult-an act of pity he could never stomach! 

So the moment he got his hands on real power, he couldn’t wait to eradicate her family to wash away his perceived humiliation. 

A man like that didn’t deserve a single cent of their help! 

Watching Nova link arms with her parents and walk out of the private oom, Mrs. Langdon turned and slapped Caleb hard across the face. 

‘What are you standing there for? Go after her! Do you have any idea that
