Evan and I held our wedding in the spring of the following year. Sandra became my only bridesmaid, fulfilling our promise from when we were younger.

I didn’t bother informing any of my friends or family in Pinehelm City about the wedding. Yet, somehow, the news got out to them.

Dad and Jonathan had surprisingly rushed over on my wedding day.

The makeup artist was putting on my makeup when Evan came to ask if I wanted to have Dad and Jonathan at the wedding.

I subconsciously looked up and saw the reflections of myself and Evan, my future husband, in the mirror. Brides usually wore heavier makeup on their wedding day, so I looked different from my usual self.

My reflection bore a hint of shyness and a delicate, enchanting beauty. It resembled the beauty of the crabapple tree Evan had specially planted for me in the house we would live in after the wedding.

Evan, who donned a groom’s classic black and white suit, was even more charming than usual.

Our eyes met, and at that moment, we both smiled.

“I don’t want to see them,” I said.

Evan nodded without my hesitation “Okay, I’ll get someone to escort the out of the premises.”

“Alright.” I didn’t want to think about anything or anyone from the past. I chose to tuck the scars from my past deep in my heart, and I believed they would one day Lade.

I lost the love of my family and boyfriend before, but I knew there was no use forcing them to love me when they didn’t. Likewise, I didn’t want to force myself to stay in a place where I wasn’t appreciated.

After final touch ups, I held a flower bouquet and went onstage in a white wedding gown.

Evan couldn’t help but approach me before i could even walk toward him. He extended an arm, eager to hold my hand at once. I reached for him, too. We then held hands amidst the countless blessings, cheers, and joyful laughter.

Evan planted a passionate kiss on me as though nobody was around. It was a long kiss, so prolonged that he only stopped when I thought I could no longer breathe

“Ru.” Putting a ring on my finger, he whispered in my ear. “I love you, Ru. I’ve loved you since long ago and will continue to love you for many years to come.”

I beamed at him but also teared up, “Evan, I’ll do my best to shower you with love, too.”

Evan pulled me into a warm hug.
