Chapter 90
Sienna
I could tell from the surprise on Mara’s face that she hadn’t at all been expecting me.
Which was understandable. I hadn’t left a note with the warriors to let her know I would be coming. I
hadn’t even known I’d be paying her a visit, until Logan had dropped Elias off at school and the silence of the mansion had threatened to suffocate me. It had again occurred to me just how much I’d messed up,
and I was at a loss on how to fix it.
So naturally, I’d thought to go to the one person who I hoped would have the answers. Mara searched my face, and I knew she could immediately tell something was wrong. She pushed the door open and motioned for me to come in. I gave her a small grateful nod before walking into the cabin. I lowered myself onto the couch, trying to gather my thoughts as she went into the kitchen to get me something to drink.
She returned to the living room of the cabin, sitting beside me and giving me a warm hug which I returned before she pulled away. I watched her pour a bit of coffee into a cup before handing it over to me. “What’s
going on?” She asked gently.
I pushed the stray strands of my hair behind my ear and took a deep breath. I wrapped my hand around the cup, letting the watch from the glass seep into my fingers and thaw the cold that currently had me in a chokehold. “Logan found out about Elias’s powers,” I replied. Her eyes widened briefly, before she schooled
her expression, probably not wanting to scare me further.
She blinked once. Twice. Thrice. I felt my throat clogging up. If she was this much at a loss for words, clearly that couldn’t be a good thing. Finally she heaved a small sigh, “Oh dear,” She said softly. “How did
he find out?”
I raised my shoulder in what I hoped would appear to be a casual shrug, even though the emotions
storming my chest were anything but casual. “I was setting up lunch and accidentally knocked down a glass
and Elias stopped it just in time before it got to the ground. Holding the content in the air and all,” I added
quietly. I pressed my lips together. “I had no idea Logan was in the room. To his credit, he didn’t let Elias
know he’d seen him but he was so…” I thought back to his tone and the harshness of his words. “He was so
angry.”
Mara gave me a slow nod. “Of course he’ll be angry, Sienna,” She scolded gently. “He’s tried time and time
again to show you how much he wants to fix his past mistakes and you’ve not exactly been forthcoming,”

met her eyes. “That’s not true,” I argued lightly, even though I knew it partly was. I continued, wanting to
plead my case. “I have finally forgiven him, I swear it,” I said honestly. “And I was going to tell him about
our abilities, I just didn’t know how. We’re a rare bloodline, almost forbidden. It’s crazy enough he’s decided
to keep me as his mate and therefore make me lead Lycans I’m still not sure I’m not afraid of. This…” I
trailed off, hearing the truth in my words. “This certainly had to be too much for him to bear
And it was the truth.
The problem had never been coming clean with Logan about mine and Elias’s powers. I’d been scared of
how he would take it. I was suddenly overcome by a wave of self disgust. Mara had been right. Since when
had I turned into such a coward? Where was the dauntless rogue who’d stumbled into a Lycan pack and
had been determined to but succumb so easily to their dominance and control?
I’d lost that part of myself. And doing so had caused me nothing but pain. I wiped the tear that escaped my
eyes. No more. Enough time had been wasted worrying about the future, and enough time had been wasted
dwelling on the past. Not anymore. I turned my attention to Mara and realized she was watching me
closely. She gave me a small rueful smile. “I take it you’ve finally realized what you should have done all
along,” She said gently.
I nodded.
“Yes,” I responded. “No more living in the past and being scared of the future. I-I’m going to fix this mess
one way or the other. Time,” I pointed out, the image of what I was to do becoming clearer. “I’m going to
apologize to Logan, everyday if I have to. And then I’m going to give him time. Just as he’d given me all
this while, I added a little regretfully. He’d forgiven me so quickly for keeping Elias from him, I’d almost
forgotten I’d also been in the wrong.
And he’d been nothing short of patient. Never pushing me, just waiting and hoping I would come around
soon enough. I nodded, but it was more to myself. Yes, I could absolutely give him time. “How’s Elias?”
Mara inquired with a trace of longing. I felt a flicker of guilt as I realized I hadn’t brought him with me to
come see her. I made a mental note to do so the next time I would be coming over.
“He’s doing well,” I informed her. “I’m going to have a talk with him when I get back. Let him know he
could come clean with his father about his powers.” There was a painful lurch in my chest. “I never should’ve made him keep it from him in the first place. I’ve already strained their relationship so much…”

Chapter 90
Mara placed a comforting hand on mine. “What truly matters now is how you’re going to fix it,” She said
softly.
I smiled at her. “You’re right,” I agreed. “That’s the only thing that really matters now.” I studied the look in
her eyes. Again, I had the feeling-much like the last time I’d been here, that she was worried about
something, but I knew better than to push. I was going to have her come forth on her own. I replaced her
hand on her lap with mine, telling her the words I knew would bring a smile to her face. “I’ll bring Elias
with me the next time I visit.”
It worked.
