The Lucan Marked Me - Chapter (89)

Chapter 89
Logan
The dull thud of fists hitting flesh echoed through the training grounds, punctuated by sharp exhales and
the rhythmic crunch of boots against packed earth. Cassian ducked low and swept at my legs, but I jumped
back just in time, my wolf thrumming just beneath my skin, begging for more of the action.
The ache in my knuckles was a welcome distraction. I threw another jab, not caring if it landed perfectly,
only that it let me burn some of this fury off. I hadn’t slept a wink the previous night, tossing and turning, helpless against the fury burning my skin. Even now, I still couldn’t believe she’d had the mind to keep something so crucial from me. Cassian had asked during my morning patrol if I wanted to go a round
earlier.
I don’t think he realized what he’d agreed to.
He grunted as my punch clipped his jaw, staggering him slightly. “Are you trying to kill me today, or is this just a warm-up?” he muttered, wiping blood from the corner of his mouth with the back of his hand. I didn’t give him an answer. I charged again, this time more reckless. Cassian easily blocked my punch, but I
could tell his concern was mounting. He wasn’t sparring anymore; he was studying me.
Reading me like he always did when he could tell something was off.
He ducked a wild swing and grabbed my arm, twisting it and pulling me off balance before shoving me back
with a grunt. “Alright, that’s enough,” he said firmly, stepping back and holding up both hands. “I don’t
think you’re here to spar. Talk to me, Logan.”
I stared at him, chest heaving, my fists still clenched. The red haze hadn’t lifted entirely, but the edge was
dulling. I nodded once, curtly, and jerked my chin toward the stone benches near the sparring corner of the
training ground. We walked over in silence. I grabbed a towel from the bench and wiped my face, not really
needing to, but wanting something to do with my hands. Cassian dropped beside me, leaning forward with
his elbows on his knees.
“You gonna talk, or do I have to keep letting you hit me until you spit it out?” he said, more gently now.
I exhaled through my nose, then looked at him. “Elias… has special abilities,” I said flatly.
Cassian blinked, not quite processing. “Special abilities?” he repeated.

I nodded, my jaw tight. “Yesterday, I walked in on him and Sienna in the kitchen. She’d dropped a cup, and the damn thing just… stopped midair. It didn’t fall. He’d stopped it.”
Cassian sat back, silent for a long beat. “Shit,” he muttered. “Are you sure it was him? Not her?”
“It was him,” I said. “Though she also has the abilities. I made her demonstrate it afterwards.” I informed him, dragging a hand through my hair. “I don’t even know what any of this means. She said she’s Eldryn,
and if I know anything, it’s that they’re one of the rarest and most feared bloodlines, practically a
forbidden race at this point.”
Cassian quietly absorbed the information. Finally, he let out a slow breath. “Think the pack will take it
badly?”
“I don’t know,” I said with sincerity.
Cassian placed a comforting hand on my shoulder. “We’ll figure it out. But breaking bones in the ring
trying to ignore it.”
I nodded slowly. “I know. I just… needed to hit something first.”
Cassian gave a short laugh. “Next time, aim lower. I like my jaw where it is.”
I stood to my feet, finally cracking a small smile

I didn’t knock when I got back to the mansion.
For the first time in a while since Sienna had returned to the mansion, I pushed the front door open and
stepped inside without waiting for her to come greet me like she normally would. My boots thudded
against the hardwood as I made my way toward the stairs, my jaw locked and my shoulders tense.
I caught her scent before I saw her. She stepped into the hallway from one of the side rooms, probably alerted by the sound of the door. Her eyes widened slightly when she saw me. I regarded her coolly and then turned to take the stairs. “Logan,” she said softly.
I halted, my spine stiff. My eyes slid to her hand on my arm, then slowly rose to meet her gaze. Her
expression was open, remorse written in the small lines around her eyes and the uncertain press of her lips. I already knew what she was going to say. I could see the apology forming, the explanation waiting

just behind it. “Can we just talk for a second?”
Qon’t,” I said flatly. “If you’re about to say you’re sorry, just save it.”
Her hand dropped like I’d burned her. She blinked, clearly stung, but I didn’t let myself soften. Without
another word, I turned and headed upstairs, ignoring the tight feeling in my chest. In the sanctuary of my
room, I stripped off my shirt, tossing it aside before walking into the bathroom. I turned on the shower
steam beginning to rise almost instantly. I stepped under it, letting the water pound against my back and
rinse away the tension still clinging to my muscles from sparring with Cassian.
I was relieved.
The mate elixir Elise had given Sienna… it was finally out of her system. The maddening pull I’d felt the
last couple of days-the urge to claim her every time she so much as breathed near me, had dulled. I could
finally think clearly once again. And yet, even as I stood there, soaked and simmering…
The ache in my chest didn’t go away.
