Chapter 12

Just as I had shaken off Alexander’s pursuit and gotten into Mr. Sullivan’s car, five minutes later, we were suddenly cut off by him again, he still wouldn’t give up!

He rushed out of his car, completely losing his composure, and frantically knocked on the passenger window. “Get out and talk!”

I quickly grabbed Mr. Sullivan, whose expression had darkened slightly, and shook my head before getting out of the car.

Alexander was no longer his usual composed self. His eyes were wild with agitation.

“Aren’t you going to explain this man to me?”

“When did you meet him, and how close are you to him?!”

I retorted coldly, “I’m afraid I don’t owe you any explanations.”

His anger only intensified. “No explanation? I’m your husband! The father of the child in your belly!”

Those two words hit me like a punch to the gut. I couldn’t hold back anymore. I slapped him hard.

Alexander looked at me, stunned. His eyes were bloodshot, his fists clenched in fury.

But, unexpectedly, the next second, he closed his eyes and took a deep breath.

When he opened them again, his tone softened.

“You’re pregnant; you can’t get worked up.”

“I’m just angry that no matter what, you shouldn’t use another man to provoke me.”

As he spoke, he lowered his proud head.

“Alright, for everything that happened before, I apologize to you.”

“I promise, no other women will bother you anymore.”

“Come back with me. Let’s raise our child together from now on.”

Listening to his tone, half condescending, half offering grace, I couldn’t help but laugh bitterly.

Then, with a stare that almost felt cruel, I said slowly, word by word:

“Alexander, there is no child anymore. I’ve already terminated it.”

“There’s no future between us either.”

He staggered back a step, struck silent, staring at me in shock and disbelief.

It was as if the reality of the situation finally hit him.
