Chapter 327 The Employee Who Saw Too Much
Lady Flourish POV
By midday, F–Tech’s security lockdown had disrupted almost every department.
Employees needed clearance to move between restricted floors, visitors were being escorted out, and our security wolves were checking the scent records of everyone who had entered the building over the previous week.
Cheryl coordinated the process from the main console while Rhys worked through the archive logs with the technical team.
I was reviewing the list of people who had accessed the medical records when Cheryl approached me.
“One of the junior employees has asked to speak with you.”
“About the breach?”
“He says he saw something near the archive several days ago. He didn’t report it at
the time.”
I put down the tablet. “Bring him in.”
A few minutes later, a young man entered the conference room with a security guard beside him.
His employee badge identified him as Daniel, a member of the facilities support team. He kept rubbing his palms against his trousers and glanced at the door twice before sitting down.
“I’m not here to get you fired,” I told him. “I need you to tell me what you saw.”

He swallowed.
“I don’t know if it was important.”
“Tell me anyway.”
Daniel looked at Cheryl, then at the guard. “Can he leave?”
The guard looked toward me.
“Yes,” I said. “Wait outside.”
When the door closed, Daniel let out a breath.

“Three days ago, I was checking the maintenance panel near the restricted archive. There was a man standing by the service entrance.”
“What did he look like?”
“Tall. Dark jacket. I didn’t see his face clearly.”
“Did he have an employee badge?”
“I thought he did, but I couldn’t read it.”
I leaned forward. “Why didn’t you report him?”
Daniel’s face reddened.
“Because he told me I wasn’t supposed to be there.”
“You were checking a maintenance panel. You had authorization.”
“I know that now.”

“You knew it then too.”
He looked down at his hands.

“He spoke like he was in charge. He said the archive had a technical issue and that I should finish my work on another floor. When I asked who had authorized him, he told me to stop asking questions.”
“Did you recognize his scent?”
Daniel hesitated.
“I could tell he was a wolf. His scent was covered by something strong, like a chemical cleaner. I didn’t get enough to identify his pack.”
My wolf raised her head.
“Someone prepared for detection.”
I kept my expression neutral.
“Did he touch the panel?”
“Yes. He used a small device against the access reader. I heard a click, then the light changed from red to green.”
Rhys, who had been listening from the adjoining room, entered.
“You saw him bypass the reader?”
Daniel flinched at the sudden question.
“I think so.”
“Why didn’t you mention that earlier?”

“Because I thought I might lose my job!”

His voice rose, and he stood so quickly that his chair scraped against the floor.
“I’ve worked here for two years. My mother depends on what I earn. If I reported a senior person and turned out to be wrong, what would happen to me? People get dismissed for less than accusing the wrong person of breaking security rules.”
Rhys stopped speaking.
I understood Daniel’s fear. F–Tech had strict policies, and the breach had made everyone nervous. An employee who admitted seeing a stranger near a restricted area could easily worry that management would blame him for failing to report it.
“Sit down, Daniel,” I said.
He obeyed, though he still looked ready to leave.
“You should have reported what you saw,” I continued. “But keeping quiet because you feared losing your job doesn’t make you responsible for the breach.”
His eyes lifted toward mine.
“Am I being suspended?”
“No.”
“Am I going to lose my access?”
“Your access will be reviewed under the same security procedure as everyone else’s. That isn’t punishment. We need to know who can enter restricted areas and why.”
He nodded, still uncertain.

Tturned to Cheryl. “Make sure his employment record reflects that he came
forward voluntarily. Nobody is to threaten his position or cut his hours because he reported this.”
“I’ll handle it,” she said.
Daniel’s shoulders lowered a little.
“Thank you.”
“There’s one more thing I need to know,” I said. “Did the man ask you anything?”
Daniel thought for a moment.
“He asked whether the old medical files were still being kept in the archive.”
Rhys’s attention sharpened.
“What exactly did he say?”
Daniel repeated the question as closely as he could remember it.
He added that the stranger had asked whether the archive team worked late and whether the access system was monitored overnight.
“Did you answer him?” I asked.
“I told him I didn’t know. I work in facilities, not records.”
“Good. Did you see him again?”
“No. But the next day, I noticed the service door had a scratch beside the reader. I thought someone had damaged it during maintenance.”
Rhys asked for the exact location. Daniel marked it on the building plan and

described the device the stranger had used. He couldn’t identify its make, but he remembered a narrow metal edge and a small blue light.
Rhys sent the description to the technical team.
“Thank you,” I told Daniel. “If you remember anything else, contact Cheryl directly. You won’t be expected to investigate this yourself.”
He stood, thanked us again, and left with the guard.
For a few seconds, nobody spoke.
Then Rhys pulled up the archive access records.
“The intruder may have started gathering information before the breach,” he said. “He didn’t need to hack every system if people could tell him how the building worked.”
“Daniel didn’t know what he was looking for,” I replied.
“Exactly. He may have thought he was answering ordinary questions or dealing with someone who had authority. Other employees could have been approached the same way.”
The thought made me angry. Whoever had targeted the archive might have been using people who had no idea they were helping.
Rhys opened a new report and began listing the information the stranger could have collected: maintenance schedules, staff routines, restricted doors, overnight staffing, and the location of the old medical records.
“If this is how they’re working,” he said, “we may have other employees who noticed things and stayed quiet. They might be afraid to come forward.”
“Then we make it clear that reporting suspicious activity won’t cost them their

Cheryl began drafting a notice for the staff. I asked her to keep it direct and avoid language that would make employees feel they were under suspicion simply for doing their work.
Rhys continued studying the access logs, comparing the stranger’s questions with the archive’s weaknesses.
The enemy might have entered F–Tech alone, but he had not needed to understand the whole building. He only needed enough information from ordinary workers to find the one door that mattered.
