Chapter 329 The Network Answers

Lady Flourish POV

The connections still marked offline bothered me more than I wanted to admit.

Finished

I stood at the F-Tech console, checking the emergency channels we had restored while the technical team continued examining the archive breach.

Damian had gone to speak with Rhys about the security arrangements, leaving me with Cheryl and the network engineers.

We had managed to keep medical requests and direct security alerts moving through verified relays.

The rest of the system remained restricted, and several clients had already complained about the disruption.

I couldn’t blame them. F-Tech had promised reliable service, and now we were asking people to work around our own security failure.

Cheryl placed a report beside my keyboard.

“Three packs have requested a timeline for restoring their connections. Two more want confirmation that their records haven’t been copied.”

“What did we tell them?”

“That we’re investigating and haven’t found evidence of stolen corporate data.”

“Good. Don’t promise anything we can’t prove.”

She nodded and returned to her workstation.

I opened the separate interface Rhys had built for the dormant bloodline network.

Its controls were older than F-Tech’s systems, but the modern access layer allowed us to read the protected channels without opening the wider pack connections.

Several routes remained inactive, waiting for a recognized bloodline signal.

I had spent days learning what the network could do. It had connected packs that wanted to protect one another without placing themselves under a single Alpha’s authority.

Its records included safe routes, medical contacts, emergency shelters, and agreements to provide warriors when a territory faced a threat it couldn’t manage alone.

What I hadn’t done was activate a channel myself.

The first time the map responded to me, Amara and I had been standing together.

Her mark had completed part of the pattern, and the network had recognized us both. But I still didn’t know whether I could reach it alone or what would happen if I tried.

My wolf lifted her head.

I rested my hand on the access panel.

Cheryl noticed what I was doing. “Should I call Rhys?”

“Not yet. I want to test one channel.”

“Do we know it’s safe?”

“No. But the interface is separate from the compromised systems, and I’m not opening the other routes. I’ll stop if anything looks wrong.”

She moved closer, ready to shut the console down if needed.

I selected a dormant channel identified by an old bloodline symbol. The screen requested confirmation of my identity. I placed my palm against the reader and waited while it checked my bloodline signature.

A low tone sounded.

The channel opened.

For a moment, nothing changed. Then a small indicator appeared beside the territory name, followed by a message field.

I typed a short request for contact. I identified myself as the recognized heir, explained that F-Tech was investigating a security breach, and asked whether the pack could confirm its status.

I made no demand for loyalty and offered no promise of authority over its territory.

I sent the message.

The screen went blank.

Cheryl leaned toward it. “Did it work?”

“I don’t know,”

We waited.

A response arrived less than a minute later.

“Northvale is safe. We can provide two secure transport routes and a temporary shelter for displaced families. State what is needed.”

I read it twice.

Another message followed from a different territory.

“Mooncrest can supply healers and medical equipment. We will send a list of available staff through the protected channel.”

Then a third response appeared.

Finished

We can provide six trained warriors for escort and border support. We will not transfer command of our paols. Give us the route and the expected duration.”

I sat back.

Cheryl looked from one message to the next.

“They aren’t asking what title you intend to take.”

“No.”

“They’re asking what help is needed.”

I opened the replies and answered each pack. Northvale’s transport routes would be useful if we needed to move families without using the compromised systems. Mooncrest’s medical team could support injured wolves from any territory that came under attack. The six warriors would be available for escort, but their own Alpha would retain command.

Every offer came with practical details. They wanted names, numbers, locations, and a clear account of what they were agreeing to do.

Nobody asked me to rule them.

Another message arrived from a smaller pack whose name I recognized from the ancient map. They couldn’t spare warriors, but they had a protected shelter and could take in families if their territory became unsafe.

I thanked them and recorded the offer.

The replies continued. One pack had information about unusual movements near an old border road. Another knew a healer who had treated wolves injured by the weapons used against Grey Ridge. A third could provide food and temporary housing if an evacuation became necessary.

I began sorting the offers into categories: transport, medical care, shelter, intelligence, and armed

protection. The network was turning into a list of resources we could actually use, provided we verified each offer before relying on it.

Rhys entered while I was reviewing a message from Northvale.

“What happened here?”

I turned the screen toward him.

“I opened one dormant channel.”

His eyes widened as he read the replies.

“You activated it yourself?”

“Yes. I sent a status request and asked what assistance they could provide.”

He scrolled through the messages, checking the authentication marks attached to each response.

“These are valid bloodline-network signatures.”

Can we trust them?”

Finished

“We can verify the sending territories independently. The messages themselves came through the protected channel, but we should still confirm the details before moving anyone.”

“Do that. I don’t want a transport route sent to us without checking who controls it.”

Rhys nodded and began copying the responses into the secure incident file.

Damian returned a few minutes later. He read the offers without interrupting, then looked at me.

“So the network is responding.”

“Yes. And nobody has pledged political loyalty.”

He glanced at the screen again.

“They’re offering what they have.”

“Because that’s what the agreement was supposed to do. Help packs survive emergencies without forcing them to surrender their authority.”

He pulled a chair beside mine and examined the list. His finger stopped at the medical support offer.

“This could help if the Eastern Army attacks another territory.”.

“It could also help us evacuate people without making them swear allegiance to me first.”

Damian looked at me for a moment before nodding.

I returned to the console and opened the next message. It contained a warning about unfamiliar wolves seen near an old supply route, along with the name of a local contact who could provide more information.

I saved it for Rhys to verify.

The bloodline network was not a throne waiting for me to claim it. It was a collection of packs willing to share what they had when another pack needed help.

For the first time since the archive breach, I had something useful to work with.
