Linda glared venomously at Iris’s group.

She couldn’t believe that in the span of a few minutes, her high school friend Heidi had switched sides and was now snapping at her.

When Linda had first proposed this plan, Heidi had been thrilled, praising her for being so clever. She had waited outside because she’d been certain Iris would come begging her to return and finish Belinda’s makeup.

But judging from everyone’s expressions….

Manager Heidi’s attitude only fueled Linda’s anger.

She fixed Iris with a cold stare.

“President Zero, I was originally planning to leave you an out. Plenty of companies have tried to recruit me, but I stayed out of loyalty to Venus. Now it seems that loyalty wasn’t worth much after all.”

With that, she picked up her makeup case and stormed off.

Manager Heidi hurried to distance herself from the situation.

Before Iris could respond, Bella spoke on her behalf.

“Venus still intends to maintain a long-term partnership with Miss Belinda’s studio.”

Almost instinctively, she reached out to pat Iris’s head.

Halfway there, she suddenly remembered the current nature of their relationship.

Her hand paused before quietly withdrawing.

Following a few steps behind, Bella listened to the two chatting so naturally together.

‘President Zero actually knows someone like Lilian Summer… she’s incredible. Applying for a transfer here was definitely the right decision.’

The red carpet venue was some distance from Venus.

After repeatedly failing to distract Iris from her work, Lilian gave up and entertained herself by watching the livestream of the red carpet on her phone.

Meanwhile, after storming out, Linda stopped at a nearby restaurant for lunch.

The restaurant happened to be showing the live red carpet broadcast on television.

She stared at the screen as one celebrity after another appeared, quietly waiting for Belinda.

“I love her! Whenever she’s not filming variety shows, she’s always recommending products. I’ve never regretted buying anything she endorses!”

The instant Belinda stepped onto the red carpet…

Back at the company, Iris returned with Lilian.

Everyone had already watched the livestream.

Curious glances followed Lilian everywhere as employees tried to guess the mysterious makeup artist’s identity.

“The payment has already been transferred to you,” Iris said. “You know Venus is facing a lot of problems right now. You also know I took over the company for reasons beyond simply managing it. Why stay here with me?”

Lilian snatched the contract out of Bella’s hands.

“If I don’t work with you, who else would I work with?” She grinned. “When we were overseas, wasn’t I always tagging along behind you? I told you the day you saved my little brother that as long as you ever needed me, I’d be there.”

Without hesitation, she signed her name at the bottom of the contract.

“It’s almost lunch,” Iris said. “I’ll have Bella take you to eat. I need to head out.”

Lilian’s eyes widened in disbelief. She slapped the table dramatically. “What? You’re not even having lunch with me? It’s my first day at the company!”

“I have something to do.”

Professor Joe had asked her to stop by today.

The rare book she’d been searching for had finally been located in the Capital University library.

Taking advantage of her lunch break, Zane drove her there.

Capital University had a parking lot reserved for visitors.

As Iris got out of the car, she immediately noticed a Lamborghini parked not far away.

The license plate looked familiar.

It was Samuel Sutton’s favorite car.

“Miss Noir! Over here!”

Nathan, who had been sent to meet her, spotted her from a distance and hurried over.

“Professor Joe had something come up and couldn’t make it. He asked me to give you his library card and accompany you to borrow the book.”

The book she wanted required professor-level borrowing privileges.

Iris nodded and walked toward the library with Nathan.

This wasn’t the first time Nathan had been alone with her. But his state of mind had changed completely.

At first, he’d thought she was simply a pretty underclassman. Walking beside her hadn’t felt stressful at all. Now he knew she was someone even Professor Joe treated with great respect. He felt so nervous that he almost couldn’t coordinate his own steps.

The two headed straight to the third floor of the library.

Nathan handed Professor Joe’s borrowing card to the librarian.

“Oh, Professor Joe’s card.” The librarian smiled apologetically. “We haven’t finished cataloging and labeling this batch of books yet, so you’ll probably have to look for it yourselves. I need to make my rounds through the library. When I come back, I’ll help you search.”

“No problem,” Nathan replied. “We’ll find it ourselves.”

After completing the registration, the librarian allowed them inside.

Before leaving, she stretched a red No Entry barrier across the entrance to the archive room and locked the password-protected door behind them.

At the same time, in one of the third-floor study rooms, Ethan was reviewing for finals.

Completely absorbed in his books, he suddenly felt someone cover his eyes.

Startled, he immediately pulled the hands away and turned around.

“Olivia? What are you doing here?”

Looking down at him, she smiled shyly.

Pleasantly surprised, Ethan took her hand and led her out of the study room.

“The college entrance exams are over,” she said softly. “I’ve been bored staying at home, so I thought I’d come see you.”

She covered her smile demurely with one hand, deliberately showing off her freshly manicured nails.

This visit wasn’t just to see him.

She had come with a mission.

The mayor had recently revoked several preferential policies that had benefited the Sutton family’s business.

Unable to figure out why, Mr. and Mrs. Sutton had sent Olivia to discreetly gather information.

Conveniently, she could also use the trip to Capital University to take photos for her social media, while showing off her handsome, top-student boyfriend.

“It’ll be lunchtime soon,” Ethan said. “Wait here for a bit. I’ll go put my things away, then I’ll show you around campus this afternoon.”

“That’s okay. I’ll wait here.”
