After Ethan returned to the study room, Olivia didn’t keep her promise to stay put. Instead, she began wandering around the third floor.
The hallways were filled with students reciting notes aloud. Listening to them made her sleepy, so she wandered into the reading room, hoping to find a novel to pass the time.
Capital University’s library housed an enormous collection of books, and the reading room was crowded.
Unable to find an empty seat, Olivia lingered by the bookshelves.
She wandered over to the economics section, picked up a random book, snapped a photo, edited it, and posted it online.
“Getting a head start on my college studies.”
Adding Capital University’s location tag would make everyone assume she was an incoming freshman there.
That would surely earn her another wave of followers.
Just as she was admiring her post, something caught the corner of her eye.
A figure flashed past inside a glass-enclosed room deeper in the reading area.
“That looks so familiar… Is that… Iris?’
The thought startled her.
‘Impossible. Why would Iris be at Capital University? A poor nobody like her is probably working in some sweatshop by now… or already engaged and waiting to get married.”
Even so, curiosity got the better of her. She found herself walking toward the room.
Just then, another student packed up and vacated a nearby seat.
Olivia quickly sat down, keeping her eyes fixed on Iris in the archive room. She seemed to be searching for a book.
Olivia tapped the shoulder of the student beside her. “Excuse me. What’s that separate room over there?”
Assuming she was a visitor from another school, the student explained,

“That’s the archive room. The books inside are rare reference materials. Regular students aren’t allowed in. Only professors or people with professor-level borrowing privileges can check them out.”
Olivia’s eyes lit up.
‘So that’s it. She doesn’t know the rules. She must’ve wandered in because the door was open and started rummaging through the shelves.’
The more she thought about it, the more convinced she became.
There wasn’t even a librarian supervising this floor.
Feeling certain she’d figured everything out, she hurried downstairs to find another librarian.
Inside the archive room, Iris and Nathan continued searching shelf after shelf.
“Miss Noir,” Nathan said, “why don’t we take a break? We can keep looking afterward.”
His arms were already beginning to ache.
She was a woman, after all.
Surely she had to be even more exhausted than he was.
He turned to look-
Only to discover that Iris was flipping through books even faster than before.
‘Right… Guess I’m just out of shape.”
As he was about to continue searching, Professor Joe suddenly called.
“I’ll step outside to take this. If you get tired, take a break.”
The archive held thousands of books.
Iris was so completely focused that she didn’t hear a word he said.
Some of the books hadn’t yet been properly shelved.
Several had their spines facing inward, while others had been shoved all the way to the back.
To make searching easier, she carefully pulled those books out, held them in her arms, then returned them to the shelves facing the correct direction after checking them.
“Hey! You there!” A panicked voice suddenly rang out from the doorway. “What are you doing

in there? Who let you in? Put those books down!”
Iris turned, several rare volumes cradled in her arms.
Standing at the entrance was a uniformed librarian.

Seeing someone carrying so many priceless rare books nearly gave the woman a heart attack. She instinctively raised her voice.
Everyone in the reading room looked over.
Pretending she’d only come because she’d heard the commotion, Olivia walked over and feigned surprise.
“Iris? I’ve been looking everywhere for you. What are you doing here?”
The librarian from the second floor frowned. “You know her? Tell her to come out immediately! Didn’t she see the sign saying students aren’t allowed inside?”
Olivia hurriedly apologized.
“I’m so sorry, ma’am. My sister probably didn’t notice the sign. She saw the door open walked in. We’re just visiting the university.”
Then she turned to Iris with an innocent smile.
“Iris, there probably aren’t any novels in there. Come out.”
and
Students who loved a good spectacle had already pulled out their phones and begun recording.
“Is something wrong with her? She came into the archive looking for novels?”
“I feel bad for her little sister. She’s getting embarrassed along with her.”
“I saw that woman flipping through books earlier. I thought she was one of a professor’s students. Turns out she’s not even from this university.”
“Is she blind? The warning barrier was huge.”
Iris swept her gaze over the crowd before calmly returning the last book in her hands to the shelf.
‘No time to deal with them. Find the book first. Explain later.’
The librarian let out a relieved breath. Then she watched Iris walk even deeper into the archive.
“Hey! Didn’t you hear me? Come back!”

The librarian became even more anxious. She rarely worked on the third floor and didn’t know the archive’s password herself.
With the door locked behind them, only Iris could open it from inside.
Iris reached the innermost shelves.
Most of the books in this section had already been organized, making them much easier to search.
Her eyes swept across one row after another.
Finally-
She found the book she had been looking for.
Holding it in her hand, she walked back and pushed open the archive door.
The librarian immediately rushed forward to snatch the book away.
“You can’t take books out of here! What’s wrong with you? You look like such a quiet young lady, but you don’t understand plain language?”
Iris sidestepped her.
“I’d like to borrow this.”
“Iris,” Olivia said softly, maintaining her role as the gentle, worried younger sister, “the librarian already said these books can’t be borrowed. Please put it back.”
She timidly reached for Iris’s sleeve.
Several male students couldn’t bear to watch any longer and stepped over to stand beside
Olivia.
“Stop making things difficult for your sister.”
“The books in there can only be borrowed by professors. You can’t even check them out.”
Another student was even more blunt.
“Which psychiatric hospital did your sister come from? We can help send her back.”
“She isn’t my sister.”
Holding the book in one hand, Iris reached into her shirt pocket with the other and took out a

“Can I borrow it now?”

Professor-level library cards were gold.
Everyone except Olivia fell silent.
The librarian was speechless. She accepted the card and saw Professor Joe’s name printed on it.
Walking over to the circulation terminal, she scanned it.
Professor Joe’s borrowing records immediately appeared on the screen.
It really was Professor Joe’s card.
The entire reading room was stunned.
Olivia also sensed something was wrong.
“That card… It actually looks real.’
“Iris,” she insisted, “where did you steal that gold card? You’re not even a student here. Give it back before you get into trouble.”
Steal?
Including the librarian, no one dared act rashly anymore.
The situation had taken so many unexpected turns that they were all completely bewildered.
At that moment, Nathan finished his phone call.
By coincidence, he ran into the third-floor librarian on his way back, and the two walked toward the reading room together.
Before they even reached the entrance, they heard the noisy commotion inside.
“These students…” the third-floor librarian frowned. “Isn’t talking loudly prohibited in the reading room?”
