Jensen began looking for me like a madman. 

He went to my usual coffee shops. 

He went to the bookstores I had mentioned wanting to visit. 

He even went to my old college campus. 

But he found absolutely nothing. 

I had completely vanished from his world, leaving no trace behind. 

Reid came over to invite him out for a drink. 

Seeing the floor covered in empty alcohol bottles, he jumped in shock. 

“Jensen, what are you doing? Is it really worth it over a woman?” 

“Everlee probably just went on a trip to clear her head. Once she runs out of money, she’ll come back on her 

own.” 

Jensen stared at him with bloodshot eyes. “She cleared out every single thing she owned.” 

Reid froze. “What? Where’d she go?” 

“I don’t know.” Jensen smashed the bottle in his hand against the wall. “She wiped away every single trace.” 

Mina walked out of the bedroom carrying a cup of coffee. 

She was wearing a silk nightgown. 

It was the one I had bought specifically for my honeymoon. 

“Jensen, stop drinking. It’s bad for you.” She leaned in weakly, trying to take the glass from Jensen’s hand. 

Jensen looked at the nightgown she was wearing. A look of intense disgust suddenly flashed in his eyes. 

“Take it off.” 

Mina froze. “Jensen, what did you say?” 

“I told you to take it off.” Jensen bolted upright, his voice terrifyingly loud. “That’s Everlee’s. Who permitted 

you to wear it?” 

Terrified, Mina burst into tears, large drops rolling down her face. “Jensen, you’re being mean to me. Are you tired of me already? I knew it. I shouldn’t be alive.”

She grabbed a paring knife and held it against her wrist.

But this time, Jensen only stared at her coldly. “If you’re going to die, do it somewhere far away. Don’t ruin 

Everlee’s house.” 

Mina’s hand trembled. 

The knife clattered to the floor. 

She stared at Jensen in utter disbelief, no longer recognizing him. 

Jensen ignored her, turning on his heel and walking out the door. 

He hired a private investigator. 

He paid a massive sum of money to track my movements. 

Three days later, the investigator sent over a photo. 

In the photo, I was wearing local clothes with a wrap around my head. 

I was sitting in a garden, teaching a few young children how to tie knots. 

The sunlight filtered across my face, and my smile looked pure. 

It was a smile Jensen hadn’t seen in a very long time.

Jensen gripped his phone so tightly his knuckles turned white. 

He immediately booked the earliest flight available. 

“Everlee, wait for me,” he muttered to himself, staring at my image in the photo. “You can only belong to me.” 

When the plane landed in El Salvador, it was already evening. 

Jensen followed the address given by the investigator and found the town.
