Chapter 5
The instant the mental bond snapped, the champagne glass slipped from Damian’s hand and shattered against the floor.
The sharp crash silenced the entire banquet hall.
Rowan, who had been hanging decorations, lost his footing and fell from the ladder. Julian clutched his chest and stumbled into the projector stand. Even Asher, who had always had the highest pain tolerance among them, dropped to one knee without warning.
The wolves inside all four of them howled in agony at the same time.
This wasn’t ordinary mental blocking.
It was what it felt like when a childhood bond that had existed for eight years was violently torn apart.
Damian braced himself against the edge of the table. His face had gone pale as he closed his eyes and tried to sense my scent again.
Nothing.
No matter how many times he called through the bond, there was only silence where I used to be.
“Aria severed the bond.”
Rowan lifted his head, cold sweat covering his forehead.
“How could she even do that? Unless she’s already left Blood Moon… or officially transferred to another pack.”
A Blood Moon wolf couldn’t simply sever a childhood bond at will.
Unless one wolf died or permanently left the pack, the bond couldn’t disappear.
Damian immediately pulled out his phone and sent me a message.
【Where are you?]
A notification appeared almost at once.
[Message failed. You are no longer in this user’s contacts.)
His fingers went still.
Then he called me three times in a row.
None of the calls went through.
Asher forced himself upright despite the lingering pain from the severed bond.
“She didn’t actually leave the pack and transfer out, did she?”
“But why would she transfer?” Rowan frowned. “She’s only going to Frostland for school. She doesn’t need to give up her Blood Moon affiliation.”

Julian said nothing.
He suddenly remembered the contract he’d seen in my bedroom the day before.
He also remembered that I had told them, clearly, that I was leaving Blood Moon Pack.
Not one of them had believed me.
They had decided that packing my belongings and returning everything they’d entrusted to me was just another way to force them to stop me.
As long as they ignored me long enough, they were certain I’d eventually give up on what they saw as a pointless act of rebellion.
Lyra stood beside the five-wolf cake, twisting the fabric of her skirt between her fingers.
“Maybe Aria only blocked the bond temporarily. Today’s my enrollment party. She probably doesn’t want you here with me, so she’s trying to scare everyone.”
For once, Damian didn’t comfort her.
He stared down at the last two messages he’d sent me.
[Stop throwing a tantrum.]
【Come to Lyra’s party tonight. And remember to finish her birthday video.]
The doorbell suddenly rang.
Damian spun toward the entrance.
Rowan was already moving.
A courier stood outside.
“I have a letter Miss Aria left for Damian, Rowan, Julian, and Asher.”
Damian tore the envelope open immediately.
There were only three lines on the page.
[By the time you read this, I will no longer belong to Blood Moon Pack.]
[You wanted a past without me and a future without me. Now you have both.)
[From this moment on, we never need to see each other again.]
Silence swallowed the banquet hall.
The enormous words MOONVALE FIVE still hung across the wall.
On the table, four black wolves still surrounded one white wolf on the cake.
They had finally gotten the five-person world they had chosen for themselves.

But as Damian stared at my letter, panic rose inside him for the first time-panic he couldn’t force back down.
He grabbed his coat.
“Her house. Now.”
By the time the four of them reached my home, the front door was locked and every light inside had been turned
off.
Damian used the spare key I’d given him when we were ten.
My closet, bookshelves, and desk had all been cleared and organized.
My identification documents, wolf-core research materials, and the experimental notes my father had left me
were gone.
Julian went straight to my bedroom.
He found the Frostland contract between the desk and the wall.
They had stormed into this room the day before while searching for Lyra’s moonstone pendant.
They had seen the contract then too.
Damian had even picked it up.
But because he’d already decided it was nothing more than an ordinary academy enrollment agreement, he hadn’t bothered to read past the cover.
Julian opened the first page.
His face changed instantly.
(Frostland Academy Wolf-Core Research Division
Classified Program Early-Entry Agreement]
[Scheduled Pickup: September 11, 10:00 A.M.]
[All program researchers are required to transfer their pack affiliation to the Northern Pack. Former pack status and all associated mental bonds will be terminated upon completion of the transfer.]
Damian snatched the contract from Julian and flipped directly to the last page.
My signature was there.
So was the official seal showing that Frostland’s Commander had personally approved my admission.
At the bottom of the page, a clause printed in red stood out-the clause none of them had ever bothered to read.
[Program Term: Five Years. Withdrawal, secondary pack transfer, private visitation, and unauthorized communication are prohibited for the duration of the program.]
Rowan stared at the words Five Years.

For the first time, his voice visibly shook.
“She didn’t sign an ordinary academy application.”
“She joined Frostland today.”
“And she won’t be coming back for five years.”
Lyra stood in the doorway and spoke softly.
“She cares about all of you too much to really disappear. Maybe she just wants you to regret what happened.”
“Once she calms down, she’ll find some way to contact you.”
Damian slowly looked up.
“She gave up her entire pack affiliation.”
His voice was colder than Lyra had ever heard it.
“How exactly is that supposed to scare us?”
It was the first time he had ever spoken to her that way.
The hurt expression on Lyra’s face froze.
Then the silver wolf crest at the bottom of the contract began to glow.
A new line of text slowly appeared across the page.
[PACK TRANSFER COMPLETE.]
[Effective today at 12:00 P.M., Aria Vale is officially registered as a member of the Northern Pack and no longer holds any affiliation with Blood Moon Pack.]
Four fake applications.
One false promise of a mate mark.
That was all it had taken for them to send me out of Blood Moon Pack with their own hands.
And now, even if they regretted it, they no longer had the right to call me back.
