Chapter 4
By the time I stumbled back to the villa, I could already hear the sounds coming from the master bedroom-
soft moans, laughter, and the rhythmic creak of the bed.
The door was half open.
Sabrina and Alexander were tangled together on the messy sheets.
At that moment, I didn’t think. I kicked the door open and stormed inside, grabbing Sabrina by the arm and
yanking her away.
“Where’s Buddy?!” I shouted.
Sabrina shrugged off my hand like I wasn’t even there and shamelessly wrapped herself around Alexander
again.
With a coy little smile, she purred, “Look at her. Your wife didn’t even flinch seeing us like this. Guess she doesn’t love you anymore. All she cares about now is that mutt.”
“Guess she failed the test again. Looks like I win-another bet!”
Alexander frowned and pushed me away protectively, shielding Sabrina behind him.
“Eleanor, what the hell is wrong with you this time?”
I stumbled backward, and my coat slipped from my shoulders.
When Alexander saw the bloodied gashes and the reopened wound across my body, he hesitated for a
moment, rubbing his nose in guilt.
“You know, actions have consequences,” he said coldly. “I’ve spoiled you for too long.”
“But I didn’t expect them to go that far. I’ll call a professional doctor to take a look at you later.”
That single sentence confirmed everything.
He knew.
The video on the screen, the car that almost hit me, even my family’s bankruptcy-none of it had happened
without his hand behind it.
When he reached out to me, I stepped back, my voice trembling.
“Where’s Buddy?” I demanded again.

“Dead,” he said flatly.
“That mutt bit Sabrina. Skinning it was merciful.”
Those words shattered what little sanity I had left.
I lost control and lunged at him, my hands trembling as I grabbed him by the collar.
“Why? That was Buddy! He’s been with us for five years! You’ll pay for this-you both will!”
Just then, Sabrina threw herself forward, pretending to shield him.
As we struggled, she let out a deliberate scream and tumbled down the stairs.
Alexander’s face went pale.
That night, his men tied me up and dragged me before Sabrina.
He kept soothing Sabrina as she nestled comfortably in his arms. “Don’t be angry, Sabrina. I brought her here
so you could let it out.”
They forced me onto my knees in front of her.
I stared at the man I’d loved for so many years in disbelief, my voice trembling with fury.
“Alexander, you can’t do this to me!”
For a split second, a flicker of hesitation crossed his eyes. But it vanished as quickly as it came.
With a quiet sigh, he said, “Sabrina’s kind. She wouldn’t go too far. You made a mistake, Eleanor. You need to be punished for your own good.”
Then he turned and walked away, leaving me with Sabrina’s triumphant smirk-a look so cold it made my blood freeze.
She picked up a silver tray, brought it to me, and shoved a piece of meat into my mouth.
“Go on, taste it. It’s your precious Buddy.”
The words struck like lightning.
I could almost hear Buddy’s last whimper echoing in my mind.
I thrashed wildly, desperate to break free, but it was useless.
Slap after slap stung across my face until fire bloomed under my skin.

In the end, I was forced to swallow that vile, metallic lump of flesh.
My stomach churned violently.
I collapsed to the floor, retching until I thought my insides would tear apart.
Sabrina only laughed harder.
When Alexander walked in, she immediately threw herself into his arms.
He pushed her away, frowning at my swollen face. “What did you do to her?”
She shrugged innocently, “Nothing much. I just wanted to help you test her one last time.”
Then, with a mocking smile, she added, “But it looks like she failed again. Turns out, in her heart, you’ll never
be as important as that dog.”
She clapped her hands like a child expecting praise.
“Guess I win again. Don’t forget my reward, okay?”
The faint trace of worry on Alexander’s face hardened into anger.
He looked down at me, battered and trembling, then said to the team standing behind him-men in sterile
white coats and emotionless faces.
“My wife’s sick. She doesn’t love me like she used to. Use the highest intensity treatment this time. She’s
strong-she can handle it.”
I widened my eyes and shook my head, stepping back as a surge of unease flooded my chest.
Memories of past hypnosis sessions flashed before my eyes, and with a sharp buzz in my head, I grabbed
Alexander’s pant leg, begging him.
“No! Alexander, please-please don’t do this! Don’t send me to them!”
I grabbed his pant leg, sobbing uncontrollably.
“I’m begging you! Please don’t!”
He crouched down, brushed my hair aside, and pressed a tender kiss to my cheek.
“Be good. Once the treatment’s done, I’ll come get you. Sabrina will be out of the country in a few days. When
she’s gone, we can finally start trying for a baby.”
I stared blankly at his face as they dragged me away.

Then came the electricity.
The whips.
The injections.
Endless sleep deprivation.
In yet another round of torment, the poison I had absorbed half a year ago to detox Alexander finally erupted.
The pain pierced straight through my bones-it was unbearable.
When Alexander came to “bring me home,” I had already crawled my half-dead body up to the rooftop.
I turned to face him one last time-calm, hollow, and strangely peaceful.
Then, without hesitation, I stepped off the edge.
“Eleanor!” Alexander’s eyes widened in shock as he finally saw what had happened.
