Chapter 5
“The Alpha King places great importance on the cooperation between the Lycans and the werewolves. That’s
why he sent me to personally invite her.”
The moment Beta Luke finished speaking, the packhouse fell completely silent.
The hair accessory slipped from Lydia’s hand and landed on the floor with a soft clatter.
Mom opened her mouth, but no words came out.
SSS-Rank.
The Lycan Warrior Program.
Those two phrases felt like two resounding slaps across everyone’s face.
They all knew Jenna was smart. They all knew she had always excelled.
But not one of them had imagined she would reach this level.
When Hunter had been admitted to Lunar Crest Academy, he had only achieved a B-Rank on the warrior assessment, the same rank Lydia had now. He had only gotten in after being accepted from the waitlist.
But Jenna… Jenna had earned an SSS-Rank. A genuine one.
She had even been selected for the Lycan Warrior Program.
Hunter’s expression was the darkest of them all.
Because he had never wanted to admit that Jenna was better than him.
He had spent countless hours training with weighted gear just to shave a single second off his running time.
Jenna had always been the fastest runner in the entire pack.
Whenever their parents praised him, he was the pack’s pride. The future heir.
But as long as Jenna stood beside him, every compliment he received seemed hollow by comparison.
Little by little, he had begun favoring Lydia instead.
Lydia was slower. Weaker.
She needed him to teach her.
She needed him to protect her.
Only in front of Lydia could he always be the capable older brother.

Aaron remained silent as well
His fingers unconsciously tightened around his phone.
More than anyone else, he knew how brilliant Jenna was. How extraordinary she was.
And because he knew that better than anyone, he had gradually stopped looking directly at her
Hidden beneath his feelings for her was an insecurity he had never been able to admit.
Jenna, his mate, had been too perfect. Too radiant.
So radiant that standing beside her sometimes made him feel insignificant, as though he wasn’t worthy of
being her mate.
Then Lydia had appeared.
She had looked up at him with admiration, asking him the simplest questions.
She had smiled brightly and said, “Aaron, you’re amazing.”
The feeling of being needed had quietly overshadowed the promises he had once made to Jenna.
Even their mate bond had slowly faded into the background.
Beta Luke was still waiting for an answer, “Is Jenna here? I need to deliver the invitation to her personally
He paused before adding, “We also heard that she didn’t apply to any universities in the werewolf realm That
surprised us. Which school did she end up choosing?”
Luna Megan finally came back to herself.
Her voice sounded dry, “She… she applied to a school in the Seaside.”
Beta Luke blinked, “The Seaside?”
He lowered his eyes to the file in his hand and hesitated.
“That’s strange. According to our records, Jenna never accepted an offer from any school in the Seaside
Alpha Derek’s expression changed immediately, “What do you mean? She didn’t go to the Seaside?”
Startled by his reaction, Beta Luke answered carefully, “I’m not sure I was only assigned to deliver the
invitation.”
Mom hurriedly called Jenna again.
The only response was the same cold automated voice, “The number you have dialed is currently
unavailable.”

Inside the packhouse, everything that had seemed so festive only moments ago now looked painfully ironic.
The menu for Lydia’s celebration banquet. The hotel photos. Her admission letter displayed proudly on the
coffee table
Beta Luke studied their pale faces and finally realized something was wrong.
He slowly put away the invitation, “Since she isn’t here, I’ll come back later. Or we’ll locate her ourselves
The moment the front door closed behind him, the phone slipped from Mom’s hand and hit the floor.
She stared blankly at the unanswered chat window.
Her lips trembled as she whispered,
“Jenna… where did you go?”
